Sperm has potential to be a baby.
Agree to disagree? -
Carri -
The clump of cells /also/ has potential. It has /potential/ to have a beating heart, to understand emotions. That child once WAS a "clump of cells". It's what the child /is/. -
Yes, sperm also has potential.
-
Then that means people who masturbate are murderers by that logic.
I just said agree to disagree about murders and s--- -
Yup. I don't have a problem with it. But it's the truth.
-
(only read the last page. Basing this post off of that)
You can also extract enough genetic material to make a sperm/egg cell from bone marrow. The same materials are made in using blood. So technically, every time you bleed you are a murderer. -
Yup.

What I can't believe is that you compare using contraceptives to abortion. by definition...
contraceptive (k n tr -s p t v). adj. Capable of preventing conception. n. A device, drug, or chemical agent that prevents conception
It prevents CONCEPTION
Formation of a viable zygote by the union of the male sperm and female ovum; fertilization.
The whole idea of birth control is to PREVENT fertilization in the first place
By your logic not having sex is just as bad as birth control and abortion because a woman's body discards 12 eggs a year. thats 12 babies that could have been born. And lets not forget about guys, MILLIONS of sperm die in their own body than from ejaculation EACH DAY alone, so thats MILLIONS of babies that could have been born.
Lets not forget my classic argument that making something illegal won't prevent it. Even I myself probably wouldn't get an abortion unless I was say below the age of 15. I'd rather women get a procedure from a licensed doctor than have home abortions in which babies are born and then shortly killed by their unprepared mothers. The baby only lives less than an hour and all it knows in it's short life is pain and suffering. -
Yes.
And that is why I am not against abortion. -
There's a difference between killing a five your old child and a 5 week old cluster of cells
-
So by your thoughts, Horses, cancer has the potential to be something useful and great to our society. I'm not comparing children to cancer, I'm say that something that hasn't even created it's own brain, has no concept of feelings, and affects the person carrying it (can happen in a negative way) isn't worth killing because it's murder.
But back to the original topic, what are your thoughts on religion influencing our government, something that we have to abide by.
Fun Fact: In Michigan, it's illegal for a woman to change her hair without the permission of her husband. Yet you know what? We say "f--- this s---" and we do it anyways. -
sapphiretwirl - not really.
-
cluster of cell: can't think, can't feel, can't live on it's own, has no memories.
5 year old: can speak, live on its own, has memories, a member of society, can feel pain and other emotions -
Here's a test:
Im holding a baby in one hand and a petri dish holding a fetus in the other.
Im going to drop one. You chose which.
If you really truly believe a fetus is the same thing as a baby, it should be impossible for you to decide. You should have to flip a coin, thats how impossible the decision should be.
Shot in the dark, you saved the baby.
Because youre aware theres a difference.
Now admit it -
If the fetus could somehow be popped back in womb I'd pick the baby.
As it would have a better chance of survival.
