You've believed in it all your life? Correct me if I'm wrong, but earlier you claimed to be Catholic...
Isn't this religion more recent? -
Yes, lat year I was Catholic. But that doesn't mean that I agreed with it. I've always had the same beliefs as I did when I was Catholic as I do now.
Yes, but it has ancient roots (Pagan). -
How could you have been a Catholic if you didn't agree with the Catholic faith? That makes no sense...
-
I was Catholic because that's what I was born into, and everyone told me that I was Catholic, so I started to call myself that. But I didn't agree with what they told me about it.
-
So then you were NEVER catholic....am I correct?
-
No, I technically was one. I worded that wrong up there. When I was little, I did agree with the Catholics because I wasn't thinking about it. I just automatically agreed with what they said, but then I got older and started thinking for myself.
-
Okay. So you never consciously made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as your loving Lord and Saviour. Therefore, you never put your trust in God. You followed family like a lost sheep but failed to make an independent decision until recently.
-
Well, it was more like my friends instead of my family because my family isn't very religious. And well, I did when I was little, but as I got older I didn't.
-
Some people are forced into religion. Do you think at maybe five years old someone knows exactly what they are? Most likely not yet so they go with whatever their family is.
-
5 year olds believe in mickey mouse as being real also...
So most parents shove cartoons down their kids throats. -
Parents can't force their children into religion once the children are old enough to decide for themselves. But they raise them with the religion they would like them to choose.
Just like they raise them to be nice to people, because that's how they want them to turn out when they're older. But that's not shoving kindness down their throats, is it? -
Nope, that's not true. Some people have to wait until they're 18 to be in the religion that they want to be in.
-
Whatever you believe in your heart is your religion, no mater what your family is. You can be 8, say you're Catholic, but if you don't belie in the Catholic ways you're not Catholic.
-
Invisible Girl NoviceYou grow up in your religion, but if you don't want to stay there you don't have to your parents try to do what's right for you like what Damask The Geek and ange said. They want you to grow up and be kind, they wanted you to grow up with God because someday you're going to need him. When you get old enough you may not be kind anymore because you get to make your own desions and even if your parents shoved religion down your throat you can grow up and make your own desions. Your parents love you and they want what they believe is best for you: for you to believe in God and worship God because someday you will need him.

@Damask but I did when I was 8 because I didn't think I had a choice.
@Invisible actually, that's not true. My mom doesn't care what religion I am.
