this dude keeps texting me, guy from my composition class. and he likes me and stuff, but besides that, hes been texting me all night ssayin stuff like "I hate myself" "I hate my life" "I dont know how to have fun" "I'm stupid" and he keeps going on and on and I said stuff from that one thread James made not too long ago thats saying go on an adventure, but nothings working and its annoying as f---, like I dont wanna talk to a crabby butt, but I dont want people to be sad. any ideas of how to cheer crab up?

Ask him why his life sucks, then ask him what he likes about his life.
If he says nothing, give him some ideas (such as you or friends or video games or whatever). It can also be stupid things like clothes or blankets.
If he counts the blessings, maybe he'll feel better.

If he likes you, and he's texting you about how terrible his life is, then he's trying to get an emotional response out of you. He wants you to baby him and act sweet and nice to him. He wants you to give him attention.
Honestly, if he's not willing to listen to anything positive or talk constructively about the negative feelings, then I wouldn't trust that he's doing anything more than just trying to get attention. -

but so... what should I do? I dont wanna be mean.. but I dont like him, I have a boyfriend anyways. and Ive mentioned that to him actually. and its annoying :/

Calmly say: "OK, I've tried everything to make you feel better. Nothing is working. This is telling me that you're just saying this to get attention. I don't like guys who are downers and I have a boyfriend. I'm flattered that you're into me, but I'm not into you that way."
Or something along the lines of that anyways. :P
