Thread Topic: The blackout
-
Yesterday, on Thurday, 3:35 PM, there was a blackout. The whole San Diego county (meaning the whole city) and other places like Arizona and Mexico lost all power. Luckily some of it came back on for me and I AM ALIVE. The blackout was actually kind of fun, I was able to focus on my homework, and play soccer. Which is good cause I had no technology. Another fun thing was we got all of our solar lights from our backyard and brought them in the house so we can have some light and my mom's laptop was working (but there was no Internet connection) and I stayed up late playing game on it, without my mom caring. I have no school today, nobody does cause not all power is back on. But in general, I had a good time.

Sounds like quite a day to me!

Yeah, sounds fun... Any ideas why there was such a huge blackout?
-
@Leah: Yeah I had a radio thing so I was able to listen to any updates about the blackout and was able to give my family news from that. Also I had to shower and do my homework before it got really dark.
@Kish: The heat was adding pressure to the generator thing and everyone was wasting energy because of all the ACs they had on and sadly the whole city (including Arizona and Mexico) lost it's power.
I was worried about the incident in 2007 when we had that heat thing that caused the HUGGEST fire that killed a lot of people which caused us not to have school for a week. -
Whoa... Well atleast you have something going on there, though it may not be all that positive.
All that happens here is,... Well, nothing. Its dead... -
Well the 2007 fire was the most scarriest thing I could experience. In a way it's like 9/11, but less dramatic. The whole city sky was full of smoke and fog that week. And all schools were closed, including my bible study classes -at the time I took bible study/communion classes- and it was something nobody ever wanted to happen again. At least it's safe at your area :\

Wow... That just makes me think of the Chicago fire, can't tell why.,.
And yeah, its pretty peaceful here, i guess thats a good thing
9/11 is on Sunday... 0.0. There was a debate in our class as to whether something bad will happen again, i doubt it...
