Thread Topic: This is to anybody who considers themselves "emo"

  ...YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO LIVE WITH A STEREOTYPE.
  
  I know what I'm talking about. I have two stereotypes stuck with me that I didn't choose to have. Well, I choose to put up with one, but I can't help the other.
  
  I'm homeschooled - the homeschooled stereotype is that I'm an unsocialized person who doesn't know how to act around other kids. I'm going to grow up to be a social idiot. I don't learn as fast as normal kids, and I don't have the ability to make friends. Homeschooling is like a mental disability.
  
  And I'm christian - the christian stereotype is that I'm a narrow-minded, stubborn person who won't accept any beliefs that belong to another faith. Apparently, I hate homosexuals and want them all to die. I think I'm better than non-christians.
  
  Trust me, you do not want to be stuck with a stereotype for the rest of your life, or for any period of time. A stereotype like "emo" is one you can choose to have.
  Please don't label yourself as "emo".
  Please don't give yourself any stereotype.

  I make nearly all As and maybe a B.
  I was "Most Valuable Player" on the Academic Team.
  I'm considered a "major Trekkie."
  Yet you don't see me calling myself a nerd all the time (unless I'm joking.)
  I like sports and am tomboyish but hate being labeled for that.
  I have Asperger's but hate being called an "Aspie."
  
  Moral of the story: I HATE STEREOTYPES.

  I think it's ok to choose your own stereotype and change it when you want but it's not ok to label other people like that and give people stereotypes

  at school one time, my friend Emily was pointing at our group of friends standing there, at one she said 'hipster' one she said 'emo' and so on, then she got to me and stopped.... then she said "Dagmar." (Dagmar is my german class name and my friends who know me as Carla think its really funny)
