Thread Topic: You are fortunate, and yet...

This is dedicated to anyone who’s ever taken things for granted.
You have a full plate of food yet you whine because, while you like this dish, it wasn’t what you requested. Yet millions of people worldwide, and some of those in your country, can’t even find a crumb big enough for a tribble.
You can’t find your nail polish, so you whine. Yet millions of people can barely find clean water to “bathe†in, let alone hygiene products. And beauty products are far out of the question.
You are complaining to everyone because your “friend†left you, while you have a full town of friends you interact with daily. Yet some people can hardly interact with another sentient being due to a mental disorder where no one understands their way of interacting, or a physical disorder where they cannot speak or hear the other person’s words.
You are whining because you have to walk to a place, one mile away, instead of being driven there. Just be grateful you have the ability to walk one mile.
You complain of people ignoring you while you talk, while you are one of the most popular people in your school. Yet some people are completely shunned by everybody due to something they didn’t even do.
You whine because you had to move from a two-story brick house to a one-story plastic-sided one. Yet many people can’t find a simple tarp to sleep under while their blood freezes in the icy cold of winter.
You got made fun of once, and you’re crying and telling everyone you’re going to commit suicide over it. Yet some people, including ME, had at least one school year where they were made fun of every day, all day, and were shunned and always picked last because the majority hated them. AND THEY’RE STILL ALIVE.
You complain because suddenly, you’re missing 5 dollars out of 300 you just had lying around. Yet some people can’t get 5 dollars no matter how hard they try.
You’re having a bad hair day, and a zit, so you refuse to go outside. Yet some people are terribly disfigured from an accident and are lucky to have survived.
And speaking of the disfigured, you make fun of an old man because he has a big, ugly scar where his left eye should be. That’s because he served in a war, and was injured while jumping in front of his fellow soldiers to protect them from an explosion.
Or that kid who has glasses and very few friends? That’s because he has vision problems and people like you don’t want to associate with him.
Or that person who is so skinny you can see her ribs, and she wears secondhand clothing? Her family can’t afford much food, let alone new clothes.
Moral of the story?
YOU COULD NOT SURVIVE FOR TEN SECONDS IN THESE SITUATIONS. SO BE GRATEFUL YOU HAVE ANYTHING AT ALL, YOU SPOILED WEAKLING THAT SOMEHOW PASSES FOR A PERSON. -
agreed. We are forutunate

... I didn't like this. If you're going to be general, and have all these sad stories, you really shouldn't include yourself in them. It kind of makes it seem like a pity party. No offense. I know it's not. But they way some of it was phrased was not very good.

Okay, so the wording was s---, but you get the message, right?
-
ya
-
By the way, I only mentioned myself ONCE and you hate the whole thing?
-
#3 = Everyone in my school except me.
-
I feel your pain.
I have a rough past and I am shunned for it.
It's like they think I'm posessed. -
I am extremely fortunate.
-
A lot of those I can relate to. But I am very fortunate, and agree
-
same as heph
-
there's always someone who's got it worse
-
Appay, I freaking love you for taking the time to write this.
-
Thank you everybody.

I kind of agree with Musicgirl..
but the message was really good.
