This isn't really a vent, more of a tangent thingy, but it fits into this thread more than my normal one
So my mom and my aunt while we were in Paris were talking about the word f---, and how even though the new generation 'doesn't think it's a bad word' it's still a bad word, and I just stayed quiet but I need to let my thoughts out about it lmao
Words can change over time and have different meanings, The first and easiest to explain word that comes to mind is the f slur, so bear with me lol (not saying it because I don't want to trigger anyone and I feel weird using it because of iNtErnaLisEd s---) It used to just mean idiot, and then it became a really bad slur for gay people, but now pretty much the only people who say it ARE gay people as a way to take away meaning from the word and empower themselves. Granted, if a cis person says it, it's still majorly f---ed up, but the word has changed meaning a LOT over time. Like, I understand the older generation still not wanting to say the word f--- because of how it was such a bad word back then, but I think it's safe to say that the word has slowly lost its 'oh holy s--- you're ok with saying that word, what are you, Eminem?' type power. I mean, if you claim an entire GENERATION doesn't think it's a bad word, then I think it's safe to say that it's not because they're oblivious, it's because the word has changed.
