ME
I GET THINGS I DO NOT NEED AND THEN GO "maybe i'll need this later.. better buy it" -
My bank has an option to lock cards in a "manage cards" area. U might wanna log in to ur app or account or whatever you use and look around for something like that
That makes it so u have to unlock the card again to purchase sumn -
I'll look into it for sure. I thought you could/should only lock a card if you think someone stole your info— wasn't aware you can manage that at any time you want to!

absolutely. for me it comes with fixations— i'll think something is really cool, and decide that i want to acquire everything related to it that i can, whether it's knowledge or a physical item.
i was actually the opposite way for a good portion of my life, though. when i was a kid i couldn't buy something without thinking about eventually getting rid of it, and where it would go from there, and then from there. the idea of something that i once enjoyed eventually rotting in a dump really scared me as a kid, so i would avoid the issue by not buying stuff a lot of the time. that's not a healthy strategy to avoiding impulse purchases, though.
both of us need to find a balance somewhere in our spending. what helps me a lot of the time at this point is to ask myself where else the money could go to ("this video game is two week's worth of groceries, i shouldn't buy it") versus the long-term satisfaction of an item ("this is a little more than i'd like to pay but i'm not spending as much during quarantine and i need something to do")
also yeah talk to your therapist they are better equipped to help than we are -
I can't control myself around those cute and fat stuffed animals if they're cheap enough. The five year old in me cannot resist.
