Thread Topic: I'm never having kids

I despise children. Absolutely hate them. Every time I see a child, it takes every fiber of my will to keep from kicking them in the head. I seriously don't understand why anyone would ever want kids. I'm happy to be an uncle if my sister ever has kids, but I want none of my own.
-
I don't despise children, but I'm not very fond of them either.Don't plan on having any myself.
-
I might want kids some day. Not for a very long time however.
I guess the desire to have kids comes from wanting to do something you can be proud of with your life. To feel like you have a chance to not only create life, but to raise someone. To see if you really can create life and not screw it up. It's also just a strange sense of immortality. -
Um wow. Technically I'm a kid.
-
XD well there's a small window where you can atcually stand kids 8-11
-
I'm done with kids, to be honest. I've been surrounded by crowds of them for as long as I can remember (Although, yes rarely socializing). So once my life really starts, I think kids are pretty much out of the question.
-
They annoy me so very much but two won't hurt. :P
-
I don't think i should ever have children. As much as I'd like to pass down the name, i fear childbirth and I'm scared of treating my children the way my father did.
-
@Ting, I can't really help you with the whole child birth thing. That's something you'd have to decide for yourself on. But as for raising them like your dad, that's the beauty of having them yourself. The ability to choose HOW you want to raise them. The ability to make an effort to do things differently.
-
I actually have a friend who's actually literally willing to go through childbirth for me, so that could be an alternative. xP
And it's not that easy. It falls in a pattern. -
My parents were both Alcoholics and drug addicts. My mother was institutionalized at 14 until she was 16. My father is registered by the government as a right wing extremist.
My grandparents are slightly racist, very southern, and heavily Christian.
Nowhere in any of that equation should I have even been a possibility. It was the conscious effort of these people to not have me turn out like them that made me who I am. -
Just because you didn't turn out like them doesn't mean i won't turn out the same way. I've already done something like that and I didn't give birth to him. It's scary and right now my current adamant belief is that children should never be in my reach alone.
-
Then I'm sorry you feel that way.
-
I could, maybe, stand one. But just one. I can't guarantee I'll be able to have children, though. I have polycystic ovaries and a number of reproductive glitches, and ovarian cancer runs in my family. But then so does my half-sister and she has two kids.
The world would probably be better off without any more people carrying my DNA anyway.... -
I feel the same way as tongue XD
my coworker has said to me "but its different if they're your own kids, cuz you can raise them right"
yeah, sure. but I don't wanna raise kids either. theres so much other stuff I wanna do with my life, not leave behind little mes to live in the awful world that will exist when theyre older. I have no faith in the future people. its gonna be like the movie Idiocracy.
