I was 11 in half.
It's almost been a year since I had my first period.
Here it goes,
Lil wakes up on a November Saturday morning so a week after Halloween when she had all those painful cramps. She really had to go pee and she was really tired so she stood up and went to the bathroom. She pulled down her pants and underwear and saw red stuff EVERYWHERE. She thought she pooped in her pant but nothing brown and mushy in here. So she pulled up her pants right away and ran to her mom who was in her bed on the laptop.
"MOM"
"What?"
"I have red stuff all over my underwear."
"Oh so your on your period"
"WHAT?!" Her heart was beating fast. She never expected this to happen to her now, at this age. She thought she would be like 16. But she was wrong.
"But what do I do"
"Here I'll help you, take this maxi pad and attatch to a brand new clean underwear and give me all your clothes that got blood on it, I'll wash it"
"But... aren't I too young to be on my period?"
"No *hugs* I'm soo proud of you! :) You're growing up! You'll get used to the cramps!"
And for the rest of the day Lil kept asking her mom questions like, "So when will I stop having my period?" "Do I have to take pads to school?" "AM I GONNA BE PREGNANT!?" (jk on that one :P)
My reaction: Surprised, it was very unexpected, a lil scared, nervous. But on Halloween 2009 (the week before I got my first period) I kept having these cramps and I thought that maybe I could be on my period.
I guess Mother Nature didn't want to give out candy for Halloween, I guess she gave out periods instead.
BUT NOW I AM 12 IN HALF YEARS OLD AND USED TO THE BLOOD AND SH1T SO WHAT DOES MOTHER NATURE HAVE TO DO NOW HAHA!!

Same age as you, only it happened to me at school. -_- Lol, but it wasn't allot. I went to the nurse, I was hoping she would let me call my mom or something, so I could AT LEAST get some clean freaking underware. But she didn't, she just gave me a huge freakin' pad that could probably store all the blood in the freakin' human body.
When I got home I told my mom and she was just like, "Oh. THATS GREAT!"
Then I took a bath cuz I felt nasty. DX
My reaction: Pissed off and freaked. xD -
You weren't too young. Don't kids do research these days!?

I am 14.
I am grateful that I just got out of the pool and happened to go to the restroom.I saw blood and I yelled for mom.
Recently I have been using tampons.
They are WONDERFUL. -
Lol well Hikaru at the time I didn't really think about periods or did research about it.

Well, it's always important to prepare. who knows, I could be a hermaphrodite.

I dunno it never concerned me. Well I was using mini pads before my period in case (which is what most girls do) but that Saturday morning when I woke up my mini pad wasn't strong enough.

lol, so you guys are basically saying you never knew the concept of a period until you actually had it? lol. Do you even know why you have it?

Sorry, I guess I'm just getting the impression that all kids these days are completely brainless.

eilloh NewbieEasy;the menstrusal cycle is a way to tell your body you are ready to have kids.
During your period, if you don't bleed, then you are pregnant. -
