Two things. One, there are very few people who think guns should be banned outright. Two, and I cannot stress this enough: if you believe a gun and a steak knife are roughly equivalent in lethality, you probably should not own a gun, because you're f---ing retarded. -

Maybe not. The point in that, though, is that they want to ban guns because they can be used to kill people, while a clever enough person could use other tactics to kill. I don't think there's a quantity attached to it.
