tongue NewbieObama's taking ANOTHER vacation, this time Martha's Vineyard. I know his vacation to the Gulf was really kind of a PR thing, but dude, are you ever in the White House?
I think this just cuts to a deeper issue with the Obama presidency: a complete lack of urgency. It's in complete contrast to his campaign rhetoric- he really seemed to understand the urgency of the situation America is in. But he folds over and over again to political pressure. He refused to push for a public option in the health care bill, the only thing that would really change health care in this country. He's failed to reign in Wall Street's casino culture. He vowed to close Guantanamo within a year after he took office- it's still open. He flip-flopped on trying the mastermind of 9/11 in civilian court in NYC. He hasn't spent the stimulus money fast enough. And more than anything, Obama seems more interested in being a coalition builder than bringing real change, when the GOP just lambasts him anyway.
I'm getting a little fed up with you, Barack. -
I agree, to be honest I've seen him take vacations, playing golf a lot and making speeches. That all I've really heard from him since health care at least. I'm fed up with democrats and republicans really.

Ron Paul was the best 2008 candidate in my opinion.

I couldn't be bothered to read that.

don't remind me of 0bama! Before my grandma used to go to this healthcare old people dentist thing (idk what it is) for free now thanks to 0bama she has to pay $300.. he's making things worse in the world..

tongue NewbieThat's not really an Obama thing. That started under Bush. Under Bush, the government pretty much stopped paying Medicare benefits, so the elderly either get turned away or have to pay out of pocket. It has continued under Obama, however.
-
tongue NewbieThe government is in massive debt. That's still no reason not to pay for Medicare.
-
tongue NewbieI live in upstate New York, remember?
I agree- the reason we got into such debt was the war in Iraq, along with massive, imprudent tax cuts for the rich. -
The war in Iraq was bull shiet, and plus there are too many government programs.
-
I think the Patriot Act is still in place even though Barack Obama wants to get rid of it.
-
Can't he just end it? Or does the defense have more power over it?
-
tongue NewbieObama is actually in favor of the Patriot Act- he voted for warrantless wire-tapping while in the Senate. I suppose I trust him with that power more than I trusted Bush, but no one can be fully trusted to use the Patriot Act without violating our privacy.
-
Iraq is not a safe place..
I never want to go there..
but other than that... isn't it bad to talk about the president online? I'm just saying... cause I'm too young to go to Juvie!! -
tongue NewbieAgain, I trust that Obama isn't the kind of despotic leader to bring down the hammer on those who disagree with him. Some people would say otherwise.
-
I do not trust the government easedroping on free Americans, whether it's Obama, Bush, or whoever. It goes against our freedom.
