In France they don't do statistics of race like the Census here in America does. People are just people, and that's true equality to me. Stop splitting people off into labels, which just end up dividing the country more and more. >.>
The next time I ever fill out a census or any other paper asking my race, I'm putting Gringo-Prussian. :D -
I mean, I'm "American". Whenever I look at some else in this country I think "American". Not "African American" or "Asian American" or "Irish American". Just American, because I believe we've come to the point where skin color really doesn't matter, that in a way everyone from all kinds of different cultures has contributed into making what we know as "American culture".

tongue AdvancedAre statistics a bit dehumanizing? Yes, but they can also identify larger problems of dehumanization, specifically poverty. If you see on the census that a city has a black population of 33%, and a poverty rate of 20%, and both are disproportionately high, then you can say with some certainty that there is a correlation.

tongue AdvancedAlso what you are referring with the mix of cultures is known as "the salad bowl". By and large, I think it's more of an ideal than a reality. There are some places where can see a pretty clear ethnic influence, but by and large, immigrants coming to this country have been expected to adopt Anglo-Saxon culture throughout our history. Me, I like the salad bowl. I think people should be happy to identify with another nationality instead of identifying with a culture they were made to adopt.

Those type of things seem to be on every document in the U.K.

I'm doing this.
What? It's true.
