GTQ NewbieWhat effects do prostitution have to the country and economy?
Should it be legal or illegal?
Is it really a job or is it just for pleasure
got any answers to these? I will post mine later? -
tongue AdvancedI think it should be legal. The reason it's such a seedy profession is that it has to be done in such a hush-hush manner. If it were legal, it would be a less grimey profession. Prostitutes would be less hookers and more escorts. And really, you aren't going to end prostitution. It's the world's oldest profession basically, and as long as people have the urge for sex, there will be people willing to make money off that urge. It's basic supply and demand.
-
It's not a good moral value, but tongue's right. I honestly don't care cause it doesn't effect me, but cleaner conditions and some basic rights like not getting raped would be good.
-
Many women are forced into prostitution to make it legal that's just plain wrong
-
tongue AdvancedMost women who are prostitutes have made the choice to be prostitutes. And also there alot of male prostitutes out there, so if you want to play the female victim of society card, I'm just gonna tell you right now that it's absolute garbage.
-
I agree with Phoenix. It's also a hush-hush buisness for women who are forced.
-
tongue AdvancedIf it were legal, you wouldn't have women being forced into the profession. When something is illegal, it can't be controlled. When it's legal, control is possible.
-
Yes you would. Legalizing prostituation wouldn't change that.
-
tongue AdvancedIs there a single legal profession that a person can be forced into? None that I know of, and that's because all legal professions have to follow labor laws.
-
Elaborate on the labor laws.
-
tongue AdvancedBasically that a person has the right to accept or reject work. It's a basic part of labor laws anywhere in the United States.
-
Yes, but from recognizing how prositution works in a hush-hush manner, forcing women into it either would be in a hush-hush manner as well. I'm sure whoever carries out labor laws won't be effective as those who carry out laws against prostitution itself.
-
Eh, I don't really care. But if you do legalize it, at least make it safe. Do a STD check and stuff. I say you should have to fill out a form or something.
-
tongue AdvancedBrit- The people who carry out laws against prostitution aren't very effective themselves. Making something illegal doesn't mean it will stop and it never does. Prostitution continues whether it's illegal or not.
-
I honestly don't care.
It's not right, in my opinion, but. Whatev. I don't care.
I don't have a problem with what they wear but doing what they do....
