I like that my country is a place where people have freedom to think and speak for themselves. I like that we are a culture of all races that share our backgrounds together. I like hard working, charitible people. Yeah we have our problems but every country does. But even as we sit and debate about politics I just wanted to add a lighter note so we remember the good as well. =)

I know that comment is usually followed by a crack about being white, but I'm lucky to live in a country like the US, considering that most of the world is impoverished and deals with starvation and disease. 1 billion people worldwide are without clean drinking water. Regardless of my beliefs, I believe I'm lucky to live in America.

Every person should love their country, it's the place you were born and raised on so to be proud of it and work to serve it is perfectley right.

the problem is American culture TEACHES you to not love your country...considering that we were started by a revolution-gone-wrong incident it's not that hard to believe....

I agree Roady and I wish our culture at least cared more about important issues than what's happening on reality tv. If you don't like something that going on try and fix it. Don't wait for the government to change things (because normally they can screw stuff up). Volunteer at a homeless shelter, or give some clothes and school supplies for children who are orphaned, or start a group to go clean up a trashed lake or something. Those are just suggestions but the point is we ourselves can do more to help America (or our country) than the government because we're on the frontlines. We can make a difference.

I know what you mean Ana, We can't let everything go to the government, when there are small jobs that we can do easily, that can help the country in ways people don't understand.

that's only due to our capitalist government (the same thing that allows you to own your property as an individual, and not as a public)
