johninMI NewbieI'm in favor of everything except marraige. Like you shouldn't lose your job for being gay. And I'm in favor of civil unions, which give gay couples all the same rights as married couples except marraige. But I just think of marraige as kind of a religious thing, a man and a woman before God.

johninMI NewbieActually not liking something generally is what gives someone the right to outlaw something. More important is power. I however have no intention to ever run for political office. If the state of Michigan asks me to vote yes or no on gay marraige, I will vote no, which I have the right to do. Just because you don't agree with my opinion doesn't mean I don't have the right to it.

What if it were wrong to be straight? How would you feel if you couldn't be married just because a few people disagreed with it? Dunno, I just find it stupid that some people can't be legally married because they love the same gender. -

if he doesn't agree with something, he doesn't have to agree to it just because YOU think its right

I should probably stress that this bill, if it’s defeated, does not legalize gay marriages in Minnesota. The bill is designed to ban the potential of legalizing gay marriages in the future. So even if we win this battle, we will still have to fight to legalize gay marriages, but at least we’ll have the option. If the bill passes, there will be no hope of legalizing gay marriages at all. Basically, we’re fighting for the right to keep fighting. -
johninMI NewbieI also said that God endows with free will. Who we choose to love is our own choice. I also believe being gay is choice, but I could be wrong.

johninMI NewbiePeople choose to do strange things sometimes. Maybe it is a little bit genetic. I mean, alcoholism is somewhat genetic, but ultimately becoming an alcoholic is a choice.

johninMI NewbieIf it makes you happy, I'd much rather have my kids be gay than be alcoholic. And I said I support gay rights, that I don't hate gay people. Why the hell isn't that good enough? You guys are being really absolutist about this.
