Thread Topic: Florida doing away with conceal carry permits
-
Anyone who can legally own a gun is allowed to carry a weapon in public, with no training or licensing.
Like, why? We require a license to drive a car, to go fishing, to CUT HAIR. But not to carry a deadly weapon in public? -
What?? That don't make sense
-
Exactly like bruv they might not even know how to use a gun and either kill themselves or kill innocent people (I'm also very against the death sentence in America and other countries. It's horrible not to give people second chances)
-
a conceal carry permit isn't a licsence AFAIK.
-
It's called a conceal carry license so yeah it is? And you're required to pass a test to have it? It's the same thing even if it were called a permit, that's just semantics. Also permit is a synonym of license.
A quick google would have told you this. -
alright. I'm just tired and this pc is laggy asf
-
Would it being a permit instead of a license have changed your opinion?
-
I was not aware they were synonymous, i thought they were completely different things.
-
What did you think the difference was?
-
i don't know how to describe it
-
actually
i can try to explain with a comparison?
There actually is a separate Firearms License, that AFAIK is what you need to own/buy a gun.
A Concealed Carry permit is simply a permit that allows you to carry a firearm concealed on your person. -
removing concealed carry permits isn't gonna make it any easier to get a gun FWIU
-
When did I say it was? It just makes it so that legally anyone who can own a gun, can bring that gun into public with zero training or certification.
I'm talking about Florida specifically. Laws vary by state, but this is the situation where I live. Here, a firearms license is the same thing as a conceal carry permit.
To have this license or permit, whatever you'd like to call it, Floridians are currently required to "provide a CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION from a firearms training class or other acceptable
training document that evidences your competency with a firearm." (Taken directly from the link above) -
If you click on the link you can see it the application instructions for "FLORIDA CONCEALED WEAPON
OR FIREARM LICENSE" so like.. idk what you're on about or why it matters? you are once again getting hung up on the most insignificant thing. im not talking about the phrasing, im talking about how they're doing away with the required training for taking a gun into public! -
you are once again getting hung up on the most insignificant thing.
No, I'm not getting hung up on one specific thing. You can assume that.
But I'm not.
I was not aware that Florida treated a concealed carry permit as a firearms license.
Sorry for not knowing everything.
