wait...
If you click on the link you can see it the application instructions for "FLORIDA CONCEALED WEAPON
OR FIREARM LICENSE"
OR FIREARM LICENSE" so like.. idk what you're on about or why it matters? you are once again getting hung up on the most insignificant thing. im not talking about the phrasing, im talking about how they're doing away with the required training for taking a gun into public!
oh cool, contradictory statements.
If I'm understanding this correctly,
That application is for either a license or CCP, then that would mean they have the same requirements, so....
Getting rid of a concealed carry permit wouldn't actually do what you claim it would. (Allow people with no training to carry firearms in public.)
This also contradicts the statement that a CCP = Firearms License in Florida.
This isn't nitpicking btw -
Alright, from my understanding, you need a firearms license to be able to sell firearms (like a gun store would get a firearms license). However, there are other websites that say you might need a firearms license in order to buy a gun, but most states don’t use that. When you buy a gun, they automatically run a background check on your driver’s license or other form of ID.
A concealed carry permit allows you to be able to walk in public with a concealed gun. The key word here is concealed and that other people don’t see it. Florida is getting rid of the concealed carry permit, so anyone who has a gun can now legally walk around in public with it as long as it’s concealed. If someone can see the gun then it’s open carry and that’s illegal. So yes, getting rid of the concealed carry permit will allow people with no training to walk around with a gun in public, but it should be hidden from sight (like in a bag, or holster under your shirt, or any other place where people won’t be able to see it). -
yea, but the thing chainsaw posted seems to imply CCP and Firearms licenses have the same requirements so the no training thing doesn't seem to imply
-
we shouldn't be arguing about whether a firearm license is the same as a concealed carry permit, in the end it isn't the thing the thread was meant to discuss. ravager, allowing concealed carry without a permit will do exactly what op claimed.
i myself live in florida as a teenager in high school and i fear shooters every day of my life. florida has a horrible crime rate, and letting people carry concealed guns without a permit will most likely bring shooting numbers up. getting a permit especially means you go through the proper training to carry and use a gun, but now carrying a concealed gun and it's completely legal. you don't have to have training. you don't have to know how to use one. guns are highly deadly already, but now they're just more of a worry. court passing this law doesn't do anything good for the people actually living here, it just makes our life worse. training and background won't be required. people who don't know jacks--- about using guns can carry a concealed gun and it's completely legal. that's literally just what this law entails. -
the link that chainsaw gave was from 2017, and it also won't soon apply for concealed carry anymore, since we literally won't need to apply for a permit to conceal carry.

hm
-
i believe the new law begins in june or july. either way desantis is a f---ing idiot
-
yes, it takes effect technically on july first. i second that.
-
what exactly do you need for a firearms license in florida?
-
That's on the link I posted.
-
there are mostly restrictions based on carrying the gun, but after starting to research this, you don't actually have to have a permit to purchase and own a gun in florida. it does depend on the firearm, but i don't believe you have to have a permit and registration isn't required. feel free to do your own research though, the internet is wide open for you.

Yeah I'm still trying to find the difference. I don't think it has anything to do with selling guns. Could be wrong. My father does fire arm instruction so I'll pick his brain when he gets home :)

Lil helpful information. Shocking amount of states don't have conceal carry laws lol -
well, that link shows that a Firearms License and CCP have the same requirements in Florida, so isn't really gonna change anything.

that was a late post, i was referring to the first document you posted.
