You.. Do understand that planned parenthood does soooo much more than abortions, right? Birth control, cancer screenings, ect.
-
And abortions are never paid for by the government, so defunding planned parenthood wouldn't defund abortions anyways.
-
I still stand by what I said.
Our taxes go into planned parenthood. And I would rather they go into something more productive that does not support abortion. -
Also, there's no such thing as a "safe" abortion. Abortion is not an easy, beautiful process for the mother or the child.
Actually, Planned Parenthood is one of the safest ways to get an abortion! See, if we took all of the funding from Planned Parenthood and put that into funding adoption agencies I feel nothing would change. At the end of the day, an adoption agency has no say over what that foster family does. Most people who do get adopted end up going to really bad homes. In return, these kids and teens that grow up in this environment aren't mentally stable.
As for the abortion isn't easy; you are correct. Which is why I don't understand why people who are Pro-Life sit here and judge women for making a choice that has no effect on you. Do you have any idea what goes through a woman's mind before coming to her decision about having an abortion? No, because none of you have been in that position. If you have the money after giving birth to take care of a newborn, go for it! Not everyone has that luxury, which is why abortions are important in early pregnancy.
If you want to know when conception happens; it's when a woman is two weeks pregnant. That is going off science and medicine. Ultimately, none of you are going to be in this woman's life. It is her body, and her choice.
And I completely agree with PointlessDreams. They are absolutely correct; because their body, their choice. Unless you are their significant other, you have no say in what they do. -

I believe that anybody has the right to an abortion. Some people dont want to carry the baby of their rapist or dont have the necessities to care for a child. Plus why do people care what others do with their body's? It's not up to others and never should/should've been like that.
-
You guys are saying the whole "My body, my choice". Well the thing is, the fetus's body is NOT your body. So the phrase isn't very sensible here.
"My body, my choice", only comes into account for you guys when it's the woman. But when it's the child's body and life in question, you guys couldn't care less. -

A fetus' body is FULLY developed at twenty weeks. Since I am a person who does try to see all aspects of an argument/debate, this is when the phrase "My body, my choice." shouldn't factor into play. That isn't my personal opinion, but one of several out there. As I stated in my previous comments; what a woman does with her life is no one else's buisness. Unless you yourself are a direct influence in her life and she has trusted you with this information. Not to mention abortions that happen at/or after twenty weeks are only if the mother or the fetus' life is at risk. An abortion is a medical procedure that we should not be arguing over. The Supreme court already passed abortions as legal after the Roe vs. Wade case.
Here is a quick synopsis of that for you:
Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973), was a landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in which the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction.
The only way this would change is if the Supreme Court decided to over-turn that ruling. -
i think that it should count ad a life once it develops consistent brain activity since that's also kinda what our line for death is. i think that's somewhere between 20 and 25 weeks.
i feel that the "her body her choice" line is kinda pointless. it doesn't really change minds because most pro life people believe that a fetus or even just an embryo is a human baby. nobody in their right mind would say that a mother has the right to kill a living baby. -
I do agree with you on that aspect. The only time I feel an abortion would be needed in that time frame is if the mothers life was at risk, or the fetus' life was at risk.
-
“My body, my choice.”
Well, the fetus can’t exactly make decisions for itself, can it? The mother is responsible for it until it’s an adult -
The reason "my body, my choice" is relevant is because the fetus can't survive without being attached to the woman's body. Therefore, the fetus takes away the woman's autonomy.
-
well yes but if you believed it was a full out human child would you care more about the child's life or the woman's autonomy for several months?
-
The child's life
-
Lol why is a child's life worth more than mine? I couldn't possibly afford to be pregnant right now. Not physically, emotionally, or financially. And there's no magical "program" that would be able to help me with those problems.
I promise you, if abortion were outlawed tomorrow, conservatives would NOT be okay woth their taxes going towards a program to support pregnant women, nor would they be okay with their taxes going towards reforming the adoption system.
You're not pro-life. You're pro-birth. You don't care about the woman's quality of life, and you don't care about the child's quality of life after it's born.
Where's the pro-life energy towards free healthcare? Towards better child protection services? Why worry about the unborn when there are SO MANY children suffering right now? Because you DON'T care about children. You care about the illusion of morals.
