Thread Topic: Abortion.

Aborting isn’t anyone’s choice except for the one responsible for that child.
-
i agree with ellie for the most part although i haven't done enough research to make an opinion on what point i think it's a life. i believe that abortion is ok in the earlier stages but after a certain point it's definitely baby and abortion should be illegal. except when the mother's life is in danger ofc

I'm pro-choice. You can't possibly know every single woman's situation. Finances, health conditions of both the fetus and the mother, consent, failed birth control, age, abusive relationship, controlling family situation..
Besides, anti-abortion laws don't stop abortions. They prevent SAFE abortions.
Here's something I've brought up before: Dead bodies have more rights than women. Say I die in a car accident and I'm not an organ doner. Even if there's a dying child who needs my heart to survive, they can't just take mine. Why the f--- should a dead body have more rights than me?
And you do understand that pregnancies are extremely expensive, right? Not to mention being out of work, and losing more money. Maybe if we had free Healthcare more people would carry their child full-term.
You also have to consult the fact that the foster care system is extremely broken.
One last thing. Genetic disorders. I've decided not to have a child due to the genes I carry that make my life harder.
Some people don't want kids, and that's okay. I do think there should be a cut off period, at the beginning of the second semester. Unless there are health concerns, in which case it should be up to the woman and the doctor. Most people who have to abort in their later terms don't want to.
I'm pro-choice because there's too many factors to take into account. It isn't my place to decide what's best for everyone. It isn't yours, either. -
I agree with Spice.

@Cham - You say it doesn't hurt the child. It KILLS the child.
In my opinion, the fetus is a human. Every human has the right to live, the Declaration of Independence says so. NO ONE has the right to deny a human child the chance to live. A fetus has a heartbeat at six weeks old. It recognizes you and feels pain too.
Also, the murder of a pregnant woman counts as double homicide by law.
Besides, anti-abortion laws don't stop abortions. They prevent SAFE abortions.
Anti-abortion laws wouldn't eradicate abortion forever, I'm sure, but it would prevent a lot of them.
Some people don't want kids, and that's okay.
And I totally agree with you there! But it was their decision to have unprotected s*x and the result is that they got pregnant. They made their decision. -
It's no really pro-choice, because it doesn't give the fetus a choice or a chance. It's pro-death.
-
The fetus can not survive without being attached to the pregnant woman. Therefore she gets a choice as well. You don't know that she's pregnant because she had unsafe sex. You didn't address any of the reasons I stated for a woman to want an abortion.
You defend the unborn so easily, but couldn't care less about the already living woman. Why does her life and wellbeing not matter? -
I personally think that there should be some sort of agency to help the mother and the child through the whole situation so that neither have to suffer. I'm sorry if I came off as uncaring towards the mother, but it's the child that would be killed in an abortion, so I'm focusing more on them.
I feel like the child should be given a chance at life, but people so easily ignore the unborn children because they aren't born yet. They're still humans too, children that can one day have futures, hopes, and dreams. I feel like if people actually considered the unborn as human children, they would be far less willing to have an abortion.
I know that circumstances can be tough. I know that it isn't always the mother's choice when she got pregnant. And I know that it isn't easy. She has a choice, but I don't think that's it's right to kill the human life inside of you. So I do not support abortion. We should focus our efforts on trying to prevent the pregnancy, not terminating it. -
The only reason that abortion would be right to do is if the mother's life is in danger from the pregnancy.
But four or five years ago, or something, they figured out how to do something so that the mom's life would most likely not be at stake ( can't remember what it was though).
So now to me there's hardly any reason that you should get an abortion. -
I’m saying-
The fetus shouldn’t be aborted if the mother won’t be harmed by it. Give it it’s best chance at life, but if the mother will die giving birth- it’s best to abort. The child hasn’t experienced life, but the mother has. -
Ok. I actually brought this topic up to some friends during football.
Pro-life is a s---ty idea. You have no idea what the mother has been through at all. It is not your choice to decide whether or not that child is aborted or not..
It isn’t even a child yet! It’s a clump of cells. Wow. -
It's a human offspring, an individual at the moment of conception with their own unique mixture of cells, that means it's a human life.
And I quote. It's not just a "clump of cells", it's a fetus, an unborn human offspring. It's common knowledge.
As for the whole "it's not my decision" thing, I agree! It isn't my decision, it isn't my choice. I can't force anyone to do anything. I'm just stating the reasons why that choice isn't right. -
just gonna say that the "clump of cells" thing is kinda dumb seeing as that's what everyone is
-
Chameleon mania AdvancedI think he meant that it’s a small clump of cells? Or maybe just being legit.
As for the whole "it's not my decision" thing, I agree! It isn't my decision, it isn't my choice. I can't force anyone to do anything. I'm just stating the reasons why that choice isn't right.
Then what do you think pro-life stands for?
