Since when did the Supreme Court make laws based off of feelings?! This is absolutely ludacris... I don't blame the population for rebelling.
-
People are rebelling out of feelings. How is that any different?
And don't tell me that it's because of the bible. Nowhere in that book does it state that being gay is a sin. And even if it did, we do this cool thing in the U.S. where we separate religious ideas and state. Or, at least, we're supposed to. -
Religious bias has no place in lawmaking and the right to persue happiness is in the constitution. Barring gay marriage for as long as we have has been against a fundamental right given to us by our forefathers. It would bother you, of course, if people in your own demographic were being denied basic rights that every other human has, but because you're not a part of the affected group, naturally you don't care.

Vladimir Putin NewbieAs long as churches aren't forced to perform it, who cares?
-
Actually ^ that's a good point.
How, in any way, is this bothering you, exactly? People are making such a big deal out of it, saying how horrible it is and acting as if these people aren't human just because it's going against their religion? The government isn't forcing everyone to watch the marriages, or to talk about it all the time, you still have the right to marry the opposite gender; no rights have been taken away from you. Complaining about the rights given to others and then blaming it on how the Court isn't supposed to go off of feelings kinda makes you look like an a--hole in my opinion. If you don't like it, ignore it. There is no way that this is hurting you, and complaining about it over the internet isn't going to change anything either. If you really want to change anything, get off your screens and go do something. But honestly, there isn't any way that this is going to hurt you physically, so I don't even see why you care at all if you don't like it. Just ignore it and let people be happy without you ruining it. And, also, it's your gods job to judge people, not you. -
This right here is one of the reasons why I'm gradually growing away from Christianity and choosing to become agnostic. In what way does this law actually affect you? It isn't taking any rights away from you, it isn't denying your right to still be able to give your opinion. All it's doing is giving more rights to people who are in the LGBT+ community. They should have a right to marry. They're people too, they should have the chance to be able to have their dream wedding and celebrate their pledge to be with someone for the rest of their life. It makes me sick to my stomach that there are people out there who are against this constitutional right. All because you think it's "gross". Your religion is gross. You can take a stick and shove it. I'm gonna go find a beautiful girl to marry, you know, because I love her and now I have that right, if you'll excuse me.

Freedom of speech.

I'm just wondering how the ruling even affects you lol

I'm against it purely because I feel the government is overstepping its boundary by forcing religion to compromise its values. Marriage is a religious ceremony, and should have remained a purely religious ceremony. I don't like how the church is now forced to participate in things it's denounced due to government intervention.
Church and state should remain separate and that includes affairs such as marriage. Why is it that the government is allowed to tell the church what to do, but the church isn't allowed to tell the government what to do?
Also, Selena, it says being gay is a sin all over the Bible. I'd say it says it about fifty times. The problem is that it says it in the old Testament, which was rendered irrelevant (with exception) by the new Testament. And the new Testament never made clear if being gay was a sin, so it goes up to interpretation. -
Marriage isn't necessarily a religious ceremony.
-
Marriage is just celebrating love
-
They should allow gay marriage everywhere it's the same thing as regular marriage the only difference is that it's same sex instead of opposite sex
-
Im just glad to be moving onto the next thing for people to whine about
-
In my opinion, I think everyone should mind their own business and stop worrying about it and focus more on all the bad things happening in this world today. I'm not against gay marriage at all, I have friends and family who are gay, there is nothing wrong with being gay. I'm a christian and all I've been hearing is the negativity about gay marriage being wrong and horrible. I believe if we were really Christians we should let people do what they want without judging them and putting them down. I even have arguments happening in my house because they are trying to get me to think of it as a sin and that everyone who is gay is going to hell, it really upsets me people think that way.
