Thread Topic: Okay, but apart from more serious social issues.

I've seen a lot of hate towards vegetarians and vegans lately. And a lot of stuff mocking them. I dunno, it may just be me, but is it so bad for them to just not want to eat meat? Now, I'm not talking about the people who'll scream at you if they catch you eating a hamburger. I'm talking about the people who just made that choice for themselves, and aren't trying to push it on anyone else.
I mean, really? -
I don't think most people care when it's someone's personal choice. My only beef (lel) with them is if they put their pets on vegan diets, because that's just plain animal abuse.
Wouldn't this go in the Kitchen? -
I wanna become a vegetarian, because vegans and vegetarians pretty much have a point.
D: But being a carnivore is hard to get rid of -
I don't eat beef and pork..
-
People eat what they eat. I give 0 f---s. Eat a f---ing corpse if you want.
-
Oh yeah there's that too. Yeah, that's not needed at all.
I think not, it's a debate, and it's not really about food, but rather how people treat vegans and vegetarians. I suppose it fits here and in the Kitchen, though.
I would, too, but I like meat. I prefer free-range meat, though. It's healthier.
Awesome.
It's just, I see so much s--- given to them. Like, there's a post on tumblr. A picture of a bowl of bacon, captioned, "My kinda salad." And then there's a comment, something along the lines of, "Poor Vegans"
I dunno. It bugs me.. -
Free range meat is healthier? The main reason it exists is to be healthier and kind for the animals...but ok at least youre still eating it over non-free range which is what counts I guess
-
It is. Something about the animals themselves eating better/living better.
-
"A picture of a bowl of bacon"
My kind of salad. -
"Free-range" animals generally aren't given the mistreatment "caged" animals are, which can lead to infections, diseases, injuries, and other negative effects that make them less tasty and/or more of a hazard to eat. Not to mention they usually aren't given the unnatural, artifical hormones that bloat the meat with slobby fat and greasy fluids.
But sometimes "free-range" animals are just tortured chickens that have been laid to die on green grass, being slowly cooked by the intense sun. A label can be so misleading...
