Thread Topic: Why is teaching proper sex education still a big deal?
-
I guess parents would prefer their children be kept in the dark about sex and proper contraception.
-
Paras should educate there children about this matter, but they leave the schools to teach there children everything so they don't have to.
-
Yeah, I still don't know why parents are so afraid of teaching children where they came from, even at the appropriate age. Because apparently it's "inappropriate" to do so, even if the kids want to have their own kids.
-
Dude, my parents told ,etc everything I need to know and I am not "scarred for life " like all the public school kids
-
My sex ed was p---.
-
What exactly do you want from sex ed? XD what do you think it can accomplish?
I imagine that anyone old enough for the topic to be relevant to, is already acutely aware that if you f---, you may procreate.
Why spend money on a class that can be covered in 2 minutes of google on your phone? -
I think that the reason people whine about sex ed, is just to be controversial
-
Hmm, there's a lot more to it that though Slim. Especially for girls, there's a lot of detail you need to !earn about your cycle etc
Also Potato Cat - what about parents who aren't going to tell their kids anything for whatever reason? That's why its taught in school, so all children are covered -
Idontevencare Newbiemaybe it should be the parents choice if there children learn or not,

Ok lions.. humans reproduce sexually. This means that as opposed to asexual reproduction, two cells are combined to form a zygote that will later grow into a baby, which will be carried in the womb, which is a special organ which females are born with (insert graphic). The female cell is called ovum or "egg cell". Once a female hits puberty, they go through monthly cycles of hormonal and physical changes that prepare them for child bearing. Monthly, females go through a phase of fertility and a phase of "menstruation" when the lining of the uterus is shed. Some bleedimg and cramps, along with moodiness are to be expected.

Bam! As much as any middle school teacher knows easily explained in about 6 sentences.
You're telling me we need a class for that? -
Only around 1 hour is needed to cover the basics. The finer details can be covered in biology and s---. Just need a lesson to explain about stds, pregnancy risks, and more.
-
If even an hour. And honestly, who actually doesnt know what a period is anyway. Whi DOESNT know about stds. Id venture that if you dont know about stds by 12 your probably hopelessly dumb
-
I didn't have internet til 12 and all my school books had bible verses mixed into it.
I first asked about "how male genes got in the female" since 7.
I started asking again regularly at the age of around 12 and still got no answer. Always ignored.
Once I woke up having jizzed in my pants.
I had no idea what that liquid is and I thought I had a horrible bladder infection.
Don't assume people will gain knowledge of sex through sources other than school. Most parents won't explain it. -
Youre a rare exception and even you turned out with a great knowledge. I do believe i rest my case.
