Lol, your site says we lose about One football pitch of forest every two seconds.. grab a calculator kiddies.
One fooball pitch is about 344 feet, and a 24 hour day has 86,400 seconds in it. According to theUnited Nations Food and Agriculture Organization definition, forests covered an area of four billion hectares (15 million square miles) in 2006.
Now do this with your calculator: (86,4002)x344.
The answer is just short of 15 million. We're losing approximately all of our forest every single day? Wow this is such an informative website! Ive just GOTTA get on this petition because they clearly know what they're talking about and they know EXAVTLY how to save the forests. I mean phew, if we keep losing the worlds entire forested areas every single 24 hout period, I dont know what we'll do! -
Rats I meant (86,4002)344
-
Hmm its not letting me use the division symbol so ill spell it out. Eighty six thousand and four hundred, divided by two, multiplied by 344 eqauls fourteen million, eight hundred sixty thousand and eight hundred.

Dude stop trying to bring down attempts at trying to save things. Does that fact really matter anyway? Its the WWF which is an established environmental organisation. If that fact is wrong then I will see if I can tell them about that.

The guardian.com says:
The set-back in the Amazon came as the first global, high-resolution, satellite analysis of global deforestation revealed that since 2000 an area equal to 50 football pitches has been destroyed every minute. -
I mean think about that for a second xD if we lost as much as 1 sqaure mile every 2 seconds, in one year we would have deforested 120% percent of the earths trees. And that rate deforestation is hundreds of times slower than your website proposes.
-
Sqaure foot I mean
-
One sqaure foot every two seconds
-
I see no harm in it but I doubt the petition will do jack s--- so there's that.
-
If we lost 344 feet of forest every 50 seconds then in one day we would have lost well 700 million feet of forest
-
Why would two websites say similar figures? I'll see if I can find any more figures to see if its wrong
-
It doesnt matter how many websites you find because if you figure a deforestation rate of 1 sqaure foot every two seconds, than from 2006 to 2007 we should have no forests left whatsoever.
Im not just making that up, put it in your own calculator and see what happens. And yes tht fallacy is paramount because it shows that one of the basis for the ideology that people would have you get behind is incorrect. You must than ask yourself what IS correct. -
And for crying out loud thats over 43,000 times slower than your sources say
-
I've found:
-3 football pitches of Amazon rainforest every minute
-122 football pitches every 90 minutes
-50 football pitches per minute
-20 a minute
-Greenpeace also say a pitch every 2 seconds
Hmm, maybe youdid your maths wrong?
