TheCornStar NewbieBasically, what do you think the world will look like 20 or 50 years from now? This is pure speculation, granted, but I'm bored.

Sorry, had to correct yourlifeusername. JUST KIDDING. I love corn though.
I THINK THE WORLD WILL BE A WASTELAND in the future. Full of hideous and disgusting wastrels that despise their past for not doing anything for their current future. :/ -
20-50 years isn't long enough for the world to be extremely different - 20 years ago wasn't much different except for no mobile phones and internet. And 50 years ago was just more old fashioned so its going to take longer for it to be weirdly different.
-
TheCornStar NewbieCorn is good.
Interesting. Can you give an example of what would cause the world to become a giant wasteland? Nuclear war? Disease? Terrorism? -
It depends what you mean by "in decline". We are and pretty much always will be the world's greatest superpower. It is undeniable however that the quality of life for our people, with the exception of the richest among us, has been in decline for quite some time.
-
Short answer..yes, the u.s.a. is declining in the relevant respects, and the fastest gaining nation behind us is china
-
^ I should think it will be India bc China and Japan are both growing old, the work-force is not young. Moreover China needs democracy if it wants to be the super power.
India has got the largest democracy and will have the largest young workforce. So, you see. -
Personally (just stating my opinion) yeah, the US is really declining. I mean, we're sueing a man for parking in his own driveway for f---s sake.
It would probably be better if India took over and became the greatest country because they're nice people. Like, really, they're not copping people's heads off or screwing screwdrivers into children's heads because their fathers told American's where to find some stupid terrorist. The people there could probably do good to this world.
But, it will probably end up being the UK because they took over lands before, I'm sure they could do it again once the world starts changing even more than it has now. -
Number one: china isn't becoming old, it is old xD and its been old, and In power for longer than we've been a nation. Number two: democracy isnt really neccesery for successful workforce....
-
By 'growing old' I mean that more population belongs to the older generation due to the 'one child policy'.
Any Super power, be it USSR or USA, are always a democracy bc democracy provides the best opportunities for development. -
uou realize of course china IS a super power, and is stronger than india right now?
Not to mention the proportion of super powers im history is a massive ocean of non democratic societies compared to the very few democratic ones. -
Why India and not China:
1. Young population
2. Second-largest English-speaking population in the world
3. democracy can provide for long-term stability (even if you guys don't believe)
4. relatively less pollution and corruption and a better sex ratio
5. Presence of Modi (that guy is really amazing) -
What??? XD better sex ratio, are you crazy? Indiad dowry system has SKEWERED the sex ratio.
Dude your trippin. -
Sex assault stats are threw the roof, robberies and other violent crimes more rampant per capita, and no one man makes THAT big of a difference in history. No one language makes ANY.
The one point that may affect it is the age of the population which im not educated on the topic enough to speak on but even assuming its a huge advantage, its more than trumped by the advantages of half a dozen other countries. Its just not like that cuz -
Fyi, dowry is banned. It's illegal. Althouh some people practice it.
India is far better than China.
Language does matter. You would never find a Chinese person here on GTQ
India is going through a raid change.
