Hmm I do wonder what will happen and how soon. the main problem is overpopulation means not enough to go around, we need a huge amount of people to be wiped out.
-
Renewable energy sources that we have now can be drastically improved if we kept working at them. They're clean and sustainable sources of energy as opposed to using fossil fuels and other polluting energies
-
No no no no, overpopulation is not the problem. Population is the result of success. The problem is that our population cant sustain itself. What we need are those systems perla was talking about.
-
Saoh what energy sources are you talking abkut though xD what technology do we have that can recyle all our garbage and provide us with energy efficiency even a hunreth of what we get from fossil fuels?
-
Saph*
-
Not to recycle our garbage but to produce less pollution. We can reduce garbage many ways such as not being so consumerist as a society and keeping a hold of things. Back only a few generations ago you didn't go out and buy a new fridge as soon as the latest model came out. People kept their comfortable goods because they were sturdy and took a beating. Today, things aren't made to last. They built to last until the next model comes out to make a buck.

Product is designed to keep up with demand. Im not so sure how deeply I believe in programed death, but in order for the economy to maintain itself, it, produces as much as we consume. We consume enough to survive.
Even IF this wasnt true, and it was as cut and dried as making sturdier product, sturdier product degrades slower thus, making MORE waste conversion factor and buildup.
IF we set those two things aside, how can this change be implemented and moreover, why should anyone care to make a change that will ultimately not change anything. We cant secure our civilization, only give it a few more decades by making that change, so why should we? -
Lol where have you been to think overpopulation isn't a problem? No matter what we do there has to be a limit on how many the earth can take.
-
Less consumption=less waste. The less you drive, the less waste you produce. It wouldn't hurt to get off your bum and walk or bike to the nearby store instead of driving.
-
Ive been in school : p
Population is a good thing if your priority is being alive. Ill repeat what I said before for you lions: population happens when we are successful in staying alive. The problem is not our lives, but that we need more sustainable systems and resources.
Human procreation isnt limitless, we eventually reach an equilibrium with the enviremenf as seen in india, japan, and china, and are beginning to see in england and u.s. cities. But in irder to sustain this population (which we want) we need more power -
I agree, but all it does is slow it down and probably not by much.
-
Saph, well thats something entirely different but also problematic.
First, automotives are one of our core technologies and boost our productivity enormous amounts. Goving up on them would decrease productivity.
Second, automotive transport, is individualized. So even a thousand walkers wouldn't help a bit. Theres to many others who dont want to expose tjemselves to the weather and have to get to and fro work quickly. -
Late post ^
:/ I don't really agree, I mean don't get me started about China I think they're one of the biggest problems with their "ways"
Do we really want to become like them where it's a law to have one child only? That tells me that we ARE already overpopulated. How is it proof of success? Its success we have a population but not that theres 7 billion (or whatever) -
Chinas pollutants and their population are to seperate issues. And their one child laws are more to dk with welfare than anything.
China leads the world in more margins than many countries and will most likely replace us as hegemony on the short end of 50 years.
If you disagree with chinas "ways" as a whole, then your really not up on China.
No. Population is not proof of success. Population literally IS success. -
Not saying that we should abandon our cars all together but why not enjoy time outside and use our bodies? I find biking more enjoyable than driving anyways. Plus you don't get and ass like this by sitting down all the time teehehe ^.^
