  Why should we not help the arctic? If we don't, the average sea level will rise dramatically, I've heard as high as 500 feet. That would mean 45% of our current landmass would be swallowed whole. But srsly, why the f--- should we care about mass-destruction? XD
  
  Oh, and who cares about mega tsunamis? If the sea levels rise, that means more water to beat down on our cities and most tsunamis will rise 10-40 feet.
  
  But seriously, who gives a s--- right? LOL
  
  
  
  Anyways, enough of my b----ing. Petitions do gauge the amount of public want/need. And sometimes governments don't do anything about it. But without these 'worthless' petitions, governments wouldn't even know where to start. They wouldn't be taking in the public opinion. Signing your name in a petition has just as much effect on the problem as it does your life -- potentially extremely little and potentially very large.

  Ok, I'll admit the percentage of covered land is closer to 30%.

  However the singularity will happen at estimated around 2040 so us humans will be irrelevant anyway.

  Alright keno. I can respect that position.
  I tend to disagree, because I imagibe our governmental systems are already keenly aware of public opinion, and the massive amounts of controversy among scientists involved in the sea level rise, but thats as fair a stance as any id say.
  
  as for why not to save the artic? Well the same reasons not to do anything else..cost of time, money, and manpower.

  Cost time money and manpower outweigh an entire species? And losing the Arctic is going to cause sea levels to rise and flood us.

  I didnt say they do or shouldn't outwiegh anything. But those are the reasons
