So basically communism is a big happy family of everyone in the country? Everyoone does something and gets their share of the stuff to keep em happy and healthy at end of day.
(this is me trying to figure stuff out from numerous appa posts) -
That seems to be the goal. If it works, I'd like it, though you can never be too sure when you throw real life humans into the mix. xP
I'm open to whatever economic system that works as long as the government (or whatever power it may be) isn't infringing in people's lives or rights. -
The idea of the "big happy family" is a more utopian goal, but the other part is the gist of it.
"From each according to ability, to each according to need." -
I've always thought of communism as basically doing away with the pretense of private wealth. As I'm sure Geek was going to say, there are many aspects of communism in our society, such as social welfare programs that are essentially redistribution of wealth, or things like the military, police, fire departments, and roads that are publicly owned. The difference is that we're still allowed to make as much money as we feasibly can without the government saying it's too much.

There's a distinction between public owenship and common ownership, public is owned and controlled by the state while common is owned and controlled by everyone. There's a good essay about this somewhere on the Marxist Internet archive, but I can't get it right now. This device doesn't copy links.
