If the shoe fits, you must wear it. If you say things that are blatantly stupid, then retarded is a fair thing to call them.

I don't think it's a good thing. There are plenty of other words you could use.
I've heard the argument made that "moron and idiot were once terms for retarded people and you aren't against the use of those" well, "moron and idiot" were replaced as technical terms by the word "retarded." If "retarded" stops being used as a technical term and is replaced by another word, I may consider being okay with it. -
Unique would be a good word. Or special. Because they are.

I don't consider it wrong. Then again, last time I used it, someone got mad at me. (And I wasn't even calling that person a retard). I just use the term idiot, which is basically the same thing when used as an insult.

I consider it wrong. But if your saying the Medical Term than I'm kinda O.K with it. But, like seriously. A whole bunch of people use it so God damn wrong alot.

I don't like it as an insult but people do have to realize the fact that retarded doesn't just mean mentally handicapped people. It means to be slow or slow down. It's an actual term in music, retardo, which means to slow down. Basically, people need to use the word in a respectful term, not as an insult

In that case yes, you should say that they are slow or they are special or even have ADHD. Which if you are smart, you'd know ADHD is for fast hyper people and slow processing people, like my cousin. But he isn't a retard. He's just simply special.

It bothers me when people use "autistic" as an insult. There are many people with autism who are full-functioning members of society, even though it feels like a very unfair and rigged game most of the time.

It's a racist term for Jews. Now that I think about it, it probably wasn't the best example. But the reason I thought of it was because of the Nazi programs where they killed off anyone who they deemed unfit to live, and the retarded and/or autistic were in that category.

using the word retarded as an insult when people say stupid things means you think all retarded people are stupid
they're not, and that's mean and unfair to them
it just means less mental capability than others but they can be as smart as anyone else
