So what does everything think about the morning after (emergency contraception) pill being available to 15 year olds?
-
As long as 15 year olds get pregnant, I say it's a good idea.
-
That they're treating the symptom and not the problem.
It would be a great thing if it were done in compliment with more open sexual education classes. -
Sounds good,
(bob stop avoiding the gtq survivor) -
It's a good idea, and not only do
dumbteenagers need to be fully informed of what their choice means, there should be more programs in place to lessen the effect of such things. For example, most who are 15 do not have the means to take care of themselves, let alone a dependent. There should be extra help for them. (I know, "the system will be played," but it's not about them, it's about the children.) -
Personally I think the problem of teenage pregnancy is always going to exist, whether there is better sex ed or not. Maybe it is treating the symptom as opposed to the disease, but teen pregnancy as a "disease" is never going to be fully cured. Kids f--- around, and telling them to do it safely doesn't mean they will.
-
I'm not shooting down the idea of giving out birth control. I'm just saying I would rather it be done in compliment to better sex ed.
-
I just think kids need to be smart enough to wait until they are older to have sex.
-
And how do they get smart enough to wait? By being able to make informed choices. How will they make informed choices?
Sex education. I can't remember where it was (I think Iceland?) but it's a place that teaches sex ed everywhere and they have the lowest teen pregnancy rate AND teens having sex. -
Sex Ed really doesnt help. I mean hell my school actually passed condoms to guys and said do safe sex. But no you cant stop sex from really...happening. the girl can say no and walk away but thats about it. For some people they are just curious, men sometimes do it because they think women are an item. Butw hen they find out she's preggers they run for the hills leaving the girl alone wih the kid. Birth control does help but sometimes it can fail so..yea. Someone I know had her pill fail but she is happy with he new kid. I know that some kids that have done it. Im not very impressed by them because most of them were guys who had random sex with a girl from a different school and dropped her after words. Hell my sister had freaking sex in our room! while I was at school!! The guy dumped her after words and said he used her to relive stress.*shiver* so many freaking condoms...*coughs* anyways Its just something that cant be fought, thats all Im saying.

Anri, there is statistical evidence that when birth control is readily available to teens, teen pregnancy goes down. and yes, similiar evidence has shown that education is corralated to less teen pregnancy as well. so..yes it does help.
In my experience, if you're careful, condoms don't fail. Don't use em past experation, don't double up. it's as simple as that.
If you're reeeaaaallly afraid then use more then one contraceptive methods, but the chance of failure either way is low.
and all of this is a whole seperate issue from who's responsible for a child. -
I seriously have no idea what anri just said...
-
Er...sorry I was rambling I do that hoping people get my point. But it didn't work this time.
So? What if the person forgets to take the pill? What if the pill doesn't work? Hell birth control has horrible side affects. Condoms can rip people. Ever really thought of that? Alot of medical things and prevention methods can fail hm. -
1. If someone misses a pill it's not that big a deal, you just take it the next time you remember, everyone forgets to take a pill during sometime during their cycle.
2. Birth control pills when taken as prescribed have a nearly 100% success rate. Plus I think that birth control is more of a secondary form of birth control which means that Its better when used with another form, such as condoms
3. Have you even been on birth control? Seriously I was on it and it had more positive affects than negative. Some of which include, protection from pregnancy, reduced me trial pain and flow, and more balanced hormones.
4. Condoms are electronically tested to insure the least possibility of it being ripped or being ripped. Most of the time condoms fail its because of HUMAN error and people not being educated on using protection. -
e.e Wtf... Is my sister suppose to be on Birth Control?
