Thread Topic: Defense of Marraige Act overturned
-
The Supreme Court voted to overturn the federal Defense of Marriage Act, which meant that the federal government didn't recognize gay marriage even in states where it is legal. This means that all married same-sex couples can now receive the same benefits that opposite sex couples do. This includes filing joint income tax reforms, receiving survivor's benefits when a spouse passes away, and being notified when a spouse is killed in battle. Small victories, yes, and victories nonetheless. The most important thing here is that there has basically been an acknowledgement from the highest court in the land that same sex couples have a constitutional right to get married. They're kicking the can down the road, for sure, but I think it is now inevitable that the Supreme Court will make it legal nationwide for same-sex couples to get married, and it may happen sooner than you think.
Don't underestimate just how huge this is. -
f--- YES
-
nice, but not surprising.
it seems like somebody somewhere has a very good game plan for gay rights.
over the last couple of years one biased policy after another made moot, and at the rate they're going, in the next 5-10 years the legalization of gay marriage will be academic. -
I used to think it would be another twenty at least. But the right case could easily be brought to the Court in the next 5 or 10 years that could result in an nationwide change to the law, much the same way laws against interracial marriage were changed.

SecretCrocodile NewbieFeministic and homosexual filled world, here we come....
-
You say that as if it is a bad thing. Everyone has something to offer the world in one way or another. Many women and homosexuals have made huge contributions to science, technology, and society in general. Marie Curie and Alan Turing are two excellent examples, and there are a helluva lot more. Men are not going to be slaves to women. Straights are not going to be slaves to gays. So get the f--- over yourself.

Better than a misogynistic and homophobic filled world like you want it to be
-
Females, and homosexuals existed before he defense of marriage act; they will continue to exist long after it.
Feminists and gay activists on the other hand will go away when we give their classes relative civil equality.
That is to say, if we can abolish just a few more prejudices and unconstitutional polices/behaviors, we wont have to put up with ridicules over compensation anymore. -
*the not he

It's a good thing homosexual couples are finally allowed to marry. However, those against gay rights will continue to shout anti-gay slurs and do whatever else to harm the LBGT (lesbian/bisexual/gay/transgender) groups.
-
it'll only matter as far as the the generation who made the legal change is concerned.
people are only as good as their education, and our government facilitates narrow minded thinking in the homosexual department.
once laws change, the people change as well. -
My country's done this years ago. :3 Good for you guys.

I'd just like to point out most of this site is bi or homo so if say, geek posted his views people would start yelling stuff along the lines of "f--- off".
So I will post someone elses view on this matter so people can yell f--- off to an unnamed person.
Gay sex: "I see no thrill in sticking your sexual organs into a hole which is used as a rather disgusting way of disposing of bodily waste"
Whatever the hell this thread is about: "now we gave illegal mexicans even more ways to get in" (knowit's not completely on topic but that comment of his made me laugh)
General gayness: "They claim to be sexually attrasted to other people of the same gender, sexual attraction comes off the want to reproduce wether it is percieved as this or not. So it's a bunch of bogus. I have also heard someone here said "homosexuality has been catologued in 500 species, homophobia in only 1", well my dog said that he hates homos in english."
Now yo have heard his views as if I stated mine my friends on here would dissappear. -
I'm always partial to the weaker force. ESPECIALLY when the opposing force pretends to have logical reasons for harassing the weaker, when in fact, the argument is emotionally based (which incidently is a perfectly reasonable stance to take).
but most of what you said seems to be kind of beside the point so maybe I missed it..What exactly are you trying to say? -
"It's a man's obligation to stick his boneration in a woman's separation. This sort of penetration will increase the population of the younger generation."
