I reached up and kissed him gently.

He kissed back.

I reached up and put a hand in his hair. I pulled away slightly. "I love you," I whispered against his lips.

He smiled faintly. "Good. I love you, too."

I smiled and kissed him once more before laying my head on his shoulder.

He smiled. The rain pattered softly on the window outside.

"This seems like impossibly good luck. I mean, if you hadn't kidnapped me, we wouldn't even have met. And if you hadn't missed your shot, we never would've fallen in love."

He shrugged. "I never really wanted to shoot you, you know."

"Why?" He had seemed pretty intent on killing me at the time.

"I thought you could be useful." He yawned slightly.

"Oh." I nodded. "Useful how?"

"I didn't know. Then, I thought I could still use you as a hostage if I needed to."

"Ah." I was happy he hadn't killed me. I was happy I was with him.

"I'm glad I didn't kill you." He yawned again.

"Me too." I yawned. "Well, goodnight," I murmured snuggling closer.
