I raised my head hesitantly. Does she know yet?

"It's going to be okay. We can get through this together. Don't leave me. I wouldn't be able to take it if something happened to you." I walked over and put his hand on my stomach. "We're gonna have our own family."

"Nik, I'm so sorry." I shook my head. "I didn't mean to do this to you."
I had just stuck her out over the fire. -
"Shhh, shhh." I put a hand on each side of his face. "I love you and it is an honor for me to carry our child."

"I'm so sorry." I whispered again. I was half tempted to go get my knife.

"Dylan, shut up already. There is no need for you to be sorry." I wrapped my arms around him.

"What are we going to do with it, though?" I asked. Its crying would put us in constant danger.

"Don't you dare call our child an 'it'."

Brb. Dinner.

"Well, we don't know what the thing is yet." I shook the hair out of my eyes. "Nik, I'm not ready to be a dad."

"And you think I'm ready to be a mother?" I was just as scared as he was but I was trying to be calm and strong.

"This is all my fault, Nik." I was hysterical. "I shouldn't have had sex with you."

"I'm just about ready to slap you, Dylan. You need to calm the f--- down and stop apologizing."

"Go ahead; I deserve it."
