I grabbed her arm, pulling her up from her seat.
"Answer me," I barked. -
I winced, his grip tight and relentless. "I... I was just..." My throat closed up after the first few words, my voice cracking. My heart thudded loudly in my chest. And now comes the pain... I shut my eyes tightly, waiting for the red hot sting of a punch or slap. Maybe he'll just pull out a gun and shoot me...
-
I pushed her into the table, ever so hard. "Just what? f---ing that guy you "met at work"?"
-
Tears threatened to spill out of my eyes. "What are you talking about?" I choked out, sputtering.
-
"You should know! You've gotten up close and personal, haven't you? Now you got one more chance. What were you doing?" I demanded her to answer. And I might let her get away scot-free if she answered correctly.
-
I bit my lip. "I wasn't... There's not... You mean Travis? He's just a friend..." I knew I'd made a mistake by saying this. It would only anger him more that I didn't answer his question.
-
I slapped her with the back of my hand, sharp rings and all.
"I'll beat you so damn hard you'll end up like Stephen Hawking. Now what the hell were you doing?!" -
I took in a ragged breath. My face stung ruthlessly where he had smacked me. "Just now?" I asked, in barely a whisper. It was a definite wrong move. I was slipping up, stupid as always. One of these days I'd get myself killed. But I loved Adolf, so it didn't matter. Nothing mattered at all.
-
I snatched her by the collar of her shirt. "Being smart, huh?"
-
I shook my head. "No... No... I... I just... I..." A few tears streamed down my face.
-
I slapped her again. "Get it together. I have no use for an idiot. And go make some coffee." I told her sharply, tossing her aside, entering my Study and locking the door.
-
I grimaced and caught myself against the wall, letting out a low breath. I walked over to the coffee maker and set it up, making sure to not drop anything as my hands quivered uncontrollably.
-
I paced for some time longer, before enveloping myself in work.
-
I poured the freshly brewed coffee into a mug and made him some toast lightly browned to perfection and eggs over-easy. He wouldn't take them any other way. I placed them beside his closed door on a tray. I knocked once before retreating to my small room.
-
Lovely bf she has here.
I dropped my pen on my desk, standing up and walk carefully to advoid knocking down any papers. I opened the door, snatched up the tray and placed it aside, without saying a word of thanks.
