I giggled a bit. "But clearly not as much as Newton," I grinned. I had no idea where this new found confidence had come from. -

I beamed back at him. "Only the truth."

I laughed. "Me? Little old 'Squint-Eyes'?" I shook my head. "Nope."

I frowned. "Huh?" I wasn't very in touch with the world, therefore I didn't know what she meant.

I shrugged. "One of my old nicknames. People would call me 'Squint-Eyes' and 'Slant' because I'm Asian."

"That's unkind!" I practically screamed.

I shrugged again. "It's okay. I'm used to it," I replied quietly.

"You shouldn't be used to it!" I shouted. A couple of older students came up to me, giving me glares.
"Shut up, Skit. You're being annoying again."
"Sorry." I whispered. -
I glared at the other students. "What did you just call him?" I stepped up in their faces.
"Woah, Slant's got nerve!" -
I took her hand. "It's okay..."
"Her and her retard boyfriend!" -

I bit my lip, fighting back tears. I glared at the other people. "Like you're any better," I said pointedly. I started walking away, dragging Newton with me. "I hate them... It's like being in high school all over again." -
Why?
I stared back at them. "I don't remember highschool... I don't think I went."
