Oh, sorry. Missed your last post. We need something to do with them. Once the assassins meet, there's really not a lot for the humans to do.

They could team up and make a plan to defeat the assassins, not realizing that they didn't need to..?

The assassins could flee the hunter, and take their targets with them, for whatever reason. Pity, maybe? Feh. The hunter would then be trying to capture us, and to rescue our captives. -
You said the assassins would become more focused on fighting each other than killing the humans.

So, my charrie would come in... what if the assassins thought they could use the humans to get away from the hunter, and so they used them for that purpose, planning to kill them afterward?
