"My dad," he replied, running his fingers over the drawing. "When I used to be able to see."

She looked at him, "Your blind?"

He nodded. "Yeah... I just assumed you knew..."

"I know now" She said smiling,and rested her head on Nate's shoulder.

Nate smiled. "So if you saw me out somewhere, you'd think I was normal?"

"If by normal you mean being able to see, then yeah."

"Wow. I just always thought people could look at me and instantly know that I'm blind..."

"Well, I'm not like everybody else." Avery said smiling.

"I like that about you. You form your own opinions about people. You don't let others dictate your life. I respect you for that." He put the finishing touches on his drawing.

Avery kept smiling, then she took Nate's hand again.

Nate smiled and gently squeezed Avery's hand. The teacher came around to collect their work.
"I will be putting up a display case of some of the best works later today. I encourage you to stop by before the end of the day to take a look," she said. Nate heard his paper being taken. The teacher gasped. "Nathaniel... Did you truly draw this?"
He nodded. "Yes, I did."
