I wiped the tear away. "Yeah, sure. Just gimme a sec." Mia, you are f---ing insane.
-----
Kris pouted. "Okay, hun. Let's go." -
I nodded. She can't SEE you, idiot. "Sure, yeah. I'll be there in a few."
-----
Matt reluctantly got up and grabbed his keys. He wrapped his arm around Kris' waist and guided her to his car saying nothing. Oh boy. Matt and Mello reunited at last... He's going to murder me. He thought as he sat behind the wheel. -
"Cool." I hung up, smiling. I walked out of my room to the others. "Change of plans. I'm going now."
-----
Kris looked at Matt. "I'm sure it won't be as bad as you think it's going to be." -
I hung up, flipping the phone shut. I waited at the door, drumming my fingers on my thigh, trying to calm my nerves.
----
"Mmm. Never underestimate Mello and his screaming power." Matt shook his head, not taking his eyes off of the road. -
-
I opened the door and walked outside. I smiled.
-----
"Hun, it'll be fine. I promise," I said, looking out the window. "Turn right." -
I looked up and let a sad excuse of a grin crawl across my face. I wasn't used to, or remotely familiar, with smiling. Well get used to it. Because nobody knows how you feel unless you display it. "Let's go."
-----
Matt pressed his mouth into a firm smile. "Don't promise something you can't 100% guarantee, Kris..." He drove the car down the road to the right.
Are we doing all first person now? -
"Sure." I started walking, shoving my cell into my pocket. At that moment, I saw a familiar car turn down the road. Is that... Matt?
-----
Kris saw Mia and Mello standing outside an abandoned warehouse. "There they are. Pull in." -
I glanced over at the sports car driving by. The driver had red shaggy hair and he was smoking a cigarette. My stare turned cold as I noticed the orange goggles over his eyes. God f---ing damn it. I told him to get the hell out of my life. And I meant it. I tried to suppress a growl, just barely managing to keep it from forming into a snarl. Instead my face contorted itself into an odd expression.
-----
Matt sighed. "He's glaring at me. I told you. We should just turn back," he said through gritted teeth. He unwillingly pulled in, parking the car where they were standing. He took a deep breath as he pulled the keys out of the ignition. "Let's get this over with." -
I smiled as I noticed Kris's head sticking out the window. "Kris!" I yelled, waving. I turned to Mello. "Please, PLEASE, don't get into a fight with Matt. Not with Kris here."
-----
Kris waved back to Mia. "Hun, it'll be fine. Mia won't let you two fight." -
I shook my head. "You know how that's going to work out, don't you?" I set my lips into a firm line as Matt and Kris exited their car.
-----
Matt clenched his fists. "You know that won't help. He always fires low blow, Kris. You know I just can't stand there and take that..." -
I ran up to Kris, hugging her. She smiled. "Hey, Mia." She kissed me on the cheek, and I did the same.
"Hey, Matt," I said, giving him a quick hug. "Mello and I were just going to grab some chocolate, you guys wanna c-"
A group of guys walked past us. I immediately recognized the head of black hair walking by, surrounded by his guys. I grabbed Mello's arm. "Kris. Look." M-Mark... -
I watched as everyone exchanged greetings. I tensed up when the group of guys passed by... Mark. It took all my might not to rip out my gun and kill the guy now.
-----
"Hello," I hugged Mia. I glanced over at Mello. He wouldn't meet my gaze, let alone look at me. Hmph. Be that way. -
One of Mark's guys saw me, and did a double take. "Hey, Mark, isn't that-" he started to say, but before he could finish, Mark stopped walking in front of him. Mark smiled.
"Hey, b----," Mark said, turning to me. I blinked, speechless. Nowhere to run. If I ran inside, he'd know it was my base. If I ran down the street, he'd follow. If I ran into Mello's arms, he'd kill Mello. "You miss me, ya little whore?" -
I clenched my fists and bit my tongue in order to stop myself from saying something I'd regret. My gun was still in my pocket... I could easily pull it out and kill the guy... Cool it... If he tries something, then you'll shoot him. I clenched my jaw and stood a few feet away from Mia, ready to pounce.
-----
Matt watched as the events slowly played out in front of him. He walked over to Kris quickly and took her by the arm. "Alright," he said tensely. "We're leaving." He started to pull her towards his car.
