I quickly sent Matt another text:
s---, you cant tell anyone. i cant believe i told you. mellos gonna be pissed if he finds out. DONT SAY ANYTHING!!!
-----
Kris handed Matt his phone, shrugging, as the phone vibrated again. -
I pulled off at the next exit and parked in the nearest parking lot. I bit off some chocolate from my last chocolate bar. s---. I never got around to buying more... I jumped off my motorcycle and strolled in the door of the QuickMart, a few bucks in hand.
-----
Matt took his phone back. "Whoops. You weren't supposed to know that, apparently..." he said quietly while texting back. Kris saw. She won't tell a soul, I promise you. -
I sighed. So, Kris saw. No big deal. Then why was I panicking? Kris wouldn't tell anyone. I knew that better than anyone.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the front door. I could hear my heart pounding in my ears. The others went out, so I was alone. It could just be Mello... But what if it wasn't? Reading Matt's text again, I replied: kay. someone just knocked on the door. dont know who it is. should i go to door?
-----
Kris poked Matt randomly. -
I grabbed a handful of bars and headed for the counter. f---, I hope I have enough cash... I reached into my pocket and pulled out a few bills. Nope, not even close... I walked towards the back of the store and pretended to check out the soda cooler, stuffing the chocolate bars in my coat. Desperate times... Oh, f--- it... Every second is a desperate time.
-----
Matt made a face. "Poking? Is that some new sort of way to show affection?" He chuckled and read Mia's text. Don't answer. If it's Mello, he'll yell. -
I opened my bedroom door, peaking out. I heard glass shatter, and saw a flash of black tumble in through a window. Then there was a black ball on the floor, which then unrolled to reveal what- er, who- it was. I quickly shut my door quietly and texted Matt: god damn it, its mark. broke in. coming to my room. f---!!! HELP!!!
-----
Kris nodded, giggling. -
I quickly made my way towards the exit, slipping out as a couple filed in.
-----
Matt's eyes widened at the text. "s---... Kris, we have to go. Now. Mia's in trouble." -
I panicked. If I hid in the closet- no, Mark would check there. If I snuck out the window- no, his guys would be waiting for that. If I killed myself to avoid the chance of him doing anything- no, that wasn't even an option. But I had to do something, and quick.
-----
Kris threw enough money for the nachos on the table, standing up and walking out with Matt. As the waiter came over to question her about the $20 bill she'd left for $6 nachos, she said, "keep the change." Kris looked at Matt, worried. "What's going on?" -
I quickly sped out of there on my motorcycle, lucky to have not been caught. I made it back to Mia's place in about 15 minutes, only to find a broken window. I took off my helmet and slipped in the window, as to not make a huge entrance. There was Mark in all his b----ass glory, searching for Mia. I clenched my fists, ready to jump him. I knew Mia would hate me if I started a fight... It would only make matters worse.
-----
Matt ran to his car, pulling Kris along with him. "It's Mark. He broke in to Mia's place," he started the car. "Make sure you put your seatbelt on," he said through clenched teeth as he sped down the road, going at least twice the legal speed limit. -
I couldn't handle it. I broke down crying and sat on the floor. Which was the worst possible thing I could've done, because of course, Mark heard me. He opened my door, walking in. He smiled, closing the door behind him. "Hey, cutie." Mark winked at me. I froze.
"D-don't come near me," I said between sobs. I was terrified. Mark laughed. He locked the door, walking over to me. He sat crouched in front of me.
"Baby, don't be scared. I'm not gonna hurt you," Mark grinned. Those were his exact words when I first met him. The next thing I knew, his lips were on mine, and his hands were pulling me to him. I tried to push him away, but he just pulled me closer. He was literally on top of me. I was sitting on the floor, pinned against the wall, completely defenseless.
-----
Kris buckled in after the car was already moving. She wanted to be at Mia's right that second. She didn't want to wait. She needed to be there now. -
I quietly stood outside of the locked bedroom door, anger coursing through my veins. That f---er...
-----
Matt pressed the gas pedal until it was parallel with the floor, turning onto the next street. The tires screeched, leaving a track of burnt rubber behind them. They pulled up minutes later. -
I didn't know how I knew, but I knew Mello was here. I knew he was. Luckily, I was able to pull away from Mark for just a second, able to yell, "Mell---!!!" before Mark slapped me, pulled out a gun and held it to my head, then kept kissing me.
He whispered in my ear, "say anything and I'll pull the trigger." Then he kept kissing me, still trying to pull me closer with his free hand. He stopped for a second. "Actually, let's mess with him. Tell him I've got a gun to your head. Go ahead and tell him, baby."
I shuddered. "M-Mello... He h-has a gun. He's holding a g-gun to my h-head."
"Good girl," Mark smiled, whispering in my ear. "Now tell him how scared you are."
I closed my eyes. "Mel-Mello, I'm s-scared," I said, tears running down my face.
-----
Kris bolted inside, and saw Mello standing outside of Mia's door. -
I clenched my teeth, turning and kicking the wall behind me. "f--- IT, MARK. OPEN THE GOD DAMNED DOOR!" I hollered, jerking the knob hopelessly.
-----
Matt locked the car and followed Kris, taking a deep breath. -
Mark smiled. He kissed me one last time. "Heh, I'm outta here." Then he noticed the bandage on my wrist. "What happened, baby doll?" He ripped the bandage off, reopening the cut.
"s---!!!" I screamed in pain.
Mark smiled sadistically. "Oh, and one last thing, babe. Think of it as a warning to your lover boy." He kicked me in the ribs, and I felt at least two of my ribs snap. I screamed in pain again. "Next time, it'll be him." Mark smashed my bedroom window, and climbed out.
-----
Kris glared at the door. "f--- this." She pulled out her gun, shot a hole through the door, and kicked it, snapping the door in half. Then she ran over to Mia, not noticing how bad-ass that was. (xD) -
-
I burst into the room after Kris, in awe. I never knew she had that kind of side to her. I rushed to Mia's side, worry apparent in my eyes. "Mia... My god, are you alright?" No, you dumb---. She's not.
-----
Matt's mouth gaped open. Never had he ever imagined Kris doing something, well, for lack of a better word, so bad-ass. He quickly followed, taking his phone out of his pocket. "I'd better call 911... Right?"
