I looked up, annoyed. I narrowed my eyes. "And why the hell would you care?" I shot back. After a moment, I added, "Nothing's up."
s---, everything's up. Mia. Me... We kissed. Man, s---, what do I do? Emotion... Emotions, god damn it! They're the death of me...
-----
"Doors open!" Matt called, fiercely clicking the buttons on his game console. He bit his lip as he concentrated solely on winning, a habit he'd had since 'time began', people'd always tell him. -
Jake chuckled. "Just looking out for you, man. I could hear Mia crying."
-----
"Damn it, where's Kris? She said she'd be here by the time we got back," I muttered. She probably stopped at Matt's... Oh, who the f--- knows?
-----
Kris opened the door and walked in. "Matt, can't you stop playing for a minute?" Kris pressed the "pause" button and sat down next to Matt. She put her arms around his neck and kissed him gently. -
"Shut up," I growled as I pushed past him.
-----
Matt groaned. "But -" He was cut off by Kris' lips meeting his. He kissed back, and his anger couldn't help but melt away. -
Jake let Mello past, even though he wanted to know what was up. He didn't planning on getting in Mello's way anytime soon unless if he decided he had a death wish.
-----
Kris kept kissing Matt, running her fingers through his hair. God, I love Matt... -
I shook my head as I finally reached my apartment. "Home sweet f---ing home..." I muttered under my breath
-----
Matt placed his game controller on the floor and caressed Kris' cheeks with his thumbs. -
I sighed. I didn't particularly feel like going to find Kris, so I figured I'd just stay here for a while. Anyway, Kris was probably with Matt.
-----
Kris continued kissing Matt, and sat on his lap. She pulled back for a minute just to say, "I love you," then kept kissing him. -
I locked the door behind me and flicked on the light... But nothing happened. s---. The bill... Payments hadn't been easy lately. I opened the fridge. Warm. s---. I decided to go for a walk to get some air. I couldn't sit around with a reminder of all my failures staring me straight in the face.
-----
"Mmmm, I love you too," Matt's voice was muffled as he continued to kiss Kris. He pulled away for a second. "So, how about dinner then? I've got some stuff in the freezer." -
I got up off the couch and walked to my room, leaving the others in the living room. "Guys, I'm gonna take a nap then go out to grab chocolate and s---, kay?"
-----
"Forget dinner," Kris smiled, sitting on top of Matt in just the right way so that he couldn't get up. "I've got all I need to survive right here." -
I made my way to the Quick Mart, the supply of all of my chocolate. The walk seemed to take forever. My footsteps echoed through the empty streets. I couldn't help but wonder where the hell Mia was.
-----
Matt smirked. "I don't mean to be a downer, but we kind of need food to survive." He met her gaze. "And I haven't eaten all day, Kris," he whined playfully. -
I sat on my bed, not planning to take a nap. I was just gonna sit there and listen to music for a bit until I decided to run out. I wasn't in a rush to get more chocolate or anything, since Mello wasn't here. I sighed. Mello wasn't here. Where was he?
-----
Kris smiled. "Shut up," she said playfully. She bit his lip and tugged a little. -
I kept walking, counting the money I had in my pocket. My only money. Ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen.... s---. I only had fifteen bucks, about enough for a few chocolate bars and a couple bottles of coke. "Hmph," I shook my head as I kept walking. I took out my old junky cell phone, the only one I could afford, and looked through the contacts. My eyes fell to one specific name. Mia What would she do if I called her right now? My thumb lingered over the send button.
-----
"Mmm," he closed his eyes, enjoying their closeness. -
I grabbed my phone, just to look through my texts. I never deleted any of them. I scrolled through the pages and pages of texts from Kris, Jake, and Matt. There were a few from Mello, but not many. I kept scrolling and saw more from Kris and Matt. Then my eyes fell on one name. Mark. I winced. Just seeing his name, let alone saying it, was painful. I tried not to cry as I thought back to that day.
-----
Kris held Matt tightly. "Hey, wanna go see Mia and Mello and them? I haven't seen Mia in a while. And it wouldn't kill for you to see Mello." -
To hell with it, I hit send. The ring tone went on for ages. With each cycle a growing fear weighed down my heart. Since when have you cared this much, Mello? Since when has anything like this mattered to you?
-----
Matt shrugged. "I've tried to see Mello, Kris. You know what happens. He made it clear he doesn't want me around anymore." Matt's voice was full of pain and regret. "I just wish I knew what I'd done wrong...." he whispered. "But you can go if you really want to. I can drive you. But I'm staying in the car." -
Just as a tear slid down my face, the phone rang. It was Mello. s---. Stop crying... I hit answer, putting the phone to my ear. "Hey."
-----
"Oh, hun. I promise, he won't be mad at you. Just please come in with me. Please?" Kris ran her hands through Matt's hair. -
A smile lit up my face. "Hi. I'm on a chocolate run. I'm just about to pass by. You can come along if you want..." Jesus f---ing LORD, you're a moron. I mentally kicked myself in the face.
-----
Matt sighed. "Fine. But... if Mells and I start heating up, just promise me you'll take my keys and go." He took a breath. "I don't want you seeing me get so... angry."
