"Oh..." Eric was sure something could be arranged, but...

I hugged him tightly."But I might be able to...."

Eric hugged her back. He was happy she wasn't mad at him. "Yes?"

"I'll deal with it."

"Maybe..." Eric smiled.

"I need to go. I told my mom I'd meet her 5 minutes ago in the parking lot. See you."I said pulling away.

"Okay. See you later." Eric kissed her quickly then walked in the opposite direction she'd be going in.

My mother wasn't mad that I had been late. Back at the house she helped me put everything we'd bought away then went out to buy groceries.

Eric spent the next few hours up on a rooftop. The thought that if she hadn't died he would've married Ashley by then. And they'd have a kid. Probably. His mind drifted from that to what he could do to make his brother stop trying to capture Ashley.
