Thread Topic: So..

"Huh?" I turned. I smelled another fox. "Uh, yeah."
-
Glaze turned her head first. "Sly's back! Sly's back!"
The others all turned to say there hellos: Dinah, Srina, Mika, Jack and Nicko.
They continued to tackle the other fox. -
I sat there, being tackled by the pups.
-
I snickered. "How do you know my sister?"
I sat down, wrapping myself again and watching the pups intently. -
I shrugged. "I was walking and, uh, I just came across her randomly. I didn't know where I was going."
-
"Hmm. Well, you had to have made some connection, or she wouldn't have let you watch the pups."
Glaze came to me, the oldest girl in the pack. I slightly favored her over the others: she was most like me. -
"I'm not sure why she trusts me... but I couldn't really hurt anything."
-
I snickered. "So, you're not quite the huntress, I'm guessing?"
I went and nuzzled Glaze close.
"She's nice. We like her when she comes to watch us," She said as she played in my fur. -
"Nope. Not at all."
-
"Well, I suppose foraging makes a living."
I lied. A fox that couldn't hunt? Impossible! It's second nature. She must have something wrong with her...a blocked nasal pasage, perhaps. Bad hearing and or eye sight.
"How do you provide food for yourself, then?" -
"Scavenging. I try to hunt, but it's too hard."
-
"How can hunting be hard? It's rather simple, really. Hear your prey, spot it and pounce."
I was curious, I had never met a fox that couldn't hunt.
"She's blind, Sly." Glaze whispered softly into the white of my fur.
Well, that explains it. I immediately started to feel shame, but pushed it aside. -
"Yeah, I am blind. So 'spotting it' doesn't exactly work." I turned my head and listened to see if there was anything outside.
-
I narrowed my eyes to the ground.
"I'm...I'm sorry. Well, you have enhanced hearing which proves to be a bonus, I suppose. Better than sight for a fox." -
"Yeah, I guess."
