NOTHING WANTS TO LOAAAAAD.
After a while, a doctor tapped me on the shoulder. "Randall?" (OMFG THEY DONT HAVE LAST NAMES D:) -
._. s---. Just promise me you'll listen to it eventually.
(o_o Holy crap. Let's make some up. Pronto... Uh...)
I stepped back from Tammy; it was no doubt the doctor was here to see her. I glanced up at the doctor. How did he know Randy? -
I will!
(Uh...)
"D--..." What the hell had I missed in all this time!? "Dane?!"
'Hey. Remember, I was in med school. I'm a nurse.'
"Dane... a nurse?" What was wrong with my life? -
(Do you want the last name to be common or uncommon?)
I watched as Randy and Dane talked. -
It doesn't matter...
"I... uh, how have you been?"
'Pretty good. I'm sorry to hear about your mother. And your dad.'
I glanced back at Tammy. She smiled weakly.
"Ah... yeah." -
Robinson? ._. There's a LONG list...
"I'm going to grab a soda... Anyone want anything?" I needed to get out and clear my head a bit. -
Sure!
"Yeah.. get me a soda too... I'm gonna go outside for a second." I said, eyeing Dane. -
"Okay. Coke work?" I reached into the pocket in my jeans and took out a few bucks.
-
"Yep." I said walking off. Great, my drunk ass friend is taking care of our mother. Wonder-f---ing-ful.
-
I walked to the stairs and climbed down until I got to the first floor where the vending machines were. I popped two dollars into the machine and got two cokes. They were so cold that they felt like they were burning my hand.
-
When I finally stepped outside, the cold was refreshing, almost. It felt good. I stuck a cigarette in my mouth and leaned against the cold cement walls.
-
I made my way back up to the room. When I got there, somebody was talking to Tammy about some serious stuff. I stood outside of the doorway, just out of view.
"We're sorry. We think it's better if we just end it now, before you go through all of the torture and pain," a man's voice pleaded.
"No. I'm not leaving them. I will live out the pain every day I possibly can to be with my family." Tammy's voice was weak but very strong at the same time. -
Sadness!
"Okay, Randy. Its going to be okay." I tried to clear my thoughts. -
"You don't get it. You could spare them from seeing you so broken and weak... They'll remember you as you were, strong and independent and sweet. Do you really want their last memory of you to be one that consists of tubes running into you, your pale body just lying limp on a hospital bed? Just.., think about it. Think about what's best for your family Ms. Robinson." The doctor exited the room, barely giving me a glance before rushing down the stairs.
"Tammy? Is everything okay?" I walked into the room and set the cokes on the table by the door. -
"Kay," I regained my cool, and threw the unlit cig to the ground. "Here we go..."
