"It's Ronald... He wants the ring back." Devin just sat there, watching. I hope he goes through with it... he thought. "After everything we've been through. After me buying a dress and going the whole ten miles. He's found another woman. They've apparently had a very interesting past together." She was about to cry, Devin could sense it.

"No, thanks for the offer, but I should be okay with it. I should've seen how horrible he was from the start. I was just so lonely... And I needed somebody..." Devin got up and hugged his mother. "Mom, you have me. I know that's not much, but if you ever need a hug or a talk, or just a shoulder to lean on, I'm here."

"Me too. And he ain't gettin his ring back. If he tries to use force, I'll get Arata."

"Mom, I think you should distance yourself from him. He's obviously not right in the head..." His mother nodded, understanding everything.

He rested his hand on Nikki's and met his eyes.

He held it and rested his head on his shoulder. "...Sorry about the couch..."

His mother laughed a bit. "No worries. I was a teenager once. I know how it is. I was looking for an excuse to buy a new one anyway."
