"Kay," he took another bite of his pizza.

He took a bite from his crazy bread.

He finished what was left on his plate. After some silence, he sighed. "Sometimes I wonder how things would be if everything was different. If the people we've lost didn't die. But..." his voice got quiet. "Then it wouldn't really be happening; us I mean." -
He leaned on him. "Her death brought us together..." He took his hand, squeezing it lightly.

"Yeah... I think she knew what she was doing when she didn't run. It was like she knew." He felt tears prick his eyes. But they were happy ones. "I'm just so happy we're together now. I just... I'm sorry..." He could tell he'd been holding this in for a long time. After he'd pulled himself together a bit, he turned to face him. "Why do people have to cry when they're so happy? Why can't words suffice?"

He wiped his eyes. "I'm not sure. Some people don't cry when they're sad. Instead they cry when they're frustrated or angry. We're strange creatures. Humans."

"Yeah, we are." His voice cracked a bit.

"How bout we go to bed alright?"

He nodded and got up. He took their plates into the kitchen and put them in the sink; then placed the pizza and crazy bread in the fridge.

He stretched and yawned. "Lead the way, babe."

He took his hand and led him up the stairs.
