He continued walking through the woods, leaves crumbling beneath his feet. "It's happened once or twice to me. Stings like hell."

"When I was little, I used to ride on my brother's and a branch hit me in the face."

"Ooh, ouch," he cringed. If that was him in Nikki's situation, he was pretty sure his younger self would cry nonstop.

"Yeah." -
"Heh, that reminds me of before my dad was deported. I was 4 or 5, and he would swing me around a lot. I don't know how I got that from the topic of self injury, but it just makes me smile." He pushed aside some more branches.

"My brother has always been there for me. Sometimes he'd get yelled at by my parents whenever I got hurt, like it was all his fault."

"Something about the big brother image makes parents think they're responsible for everything you do. Blame gets people no where, but they still use it."

"I dunno. But since they died, he's been so caring and kind to me. I love him a lot. And I'm glad he doesn't care I'm with you." He smiled.

He smiled and squeezed his hand. "Me too. I think he understands everything, unlike everyone else."

"Clearly." He laughed.

"There it is." He nodded towards a big tree in the middle of a clearing.
