That's when I ran like hell. I was on the track team for this. One mile in two minutes flat. The loud echoing of my feet against the pavement just made my heart beat faster. I turned down a dark alley... Only then did I realize it was a dead end.
-
The alive one ran, but forgot one of the qualities of Baynelings. We were dead. There was absolutely no weight on us. The body was a mere mask. We were the speed of light. I whizzed off after him, my human hair blowing in the wind.
-
I pressed myself up against the wall. In a flash, the killer was right in front of me. Their face wasn't human. Her sking was a pale grey... I was trapped.
-
Sirens wailed. The light of a car shined on us both. They had caught me.
-
My eyes flickered to her. For a second, our eyes met. I couldn't help thinking, I know you. I don't know how... But I know you.
-
I jumped into the shadows of the nearby bushes, throwing my knife at one of the officers. He let out a wail of pain as it stabbed his heart. He fell to the ground before his friends could dial 911. I felt my skin pulse, and turn pink. The scars disappeared, my skin pulsed with life. I had made my kill for the day.
-
I stood there motionless. I couldn't stop shaking. One of the cops gave me a ride home. "I.... that... it..." I couldn't speak clearly either.
-
Of course, I couldn't stop killing. Sure I would live today, but what about tomorrow? And if it weren't for those damned officers, the young man would've been mine. I decided to stalk him home, and then kill him tomorrow.
-
I got out of the police car. "Thanks, Officer," I said, smiling. The truth was, this officer was my brother. I felt like I was being watched so I ran inside, closing and locking the door behind me.
-
He lived surprisingly far. Not that it was a challenge. For the night, I settled near his window. It was close enough to a tree in case of emergency, too.
-
I closed the shade and dressed for bed. After brushing my teeth and washing my face I climbed under the covers. I still felt like I was being watched.
