getting into parkour training and getting into mixed martial arts
i wanted to do jiu-jitsu (since it focuses on grappling), karate (striking), and kung fu (striking) because my step dad actually went to a dojo when he was younger and was a black belt in karate + learned a bunch of kung fu as well which in turn gave him the capabilities of mixed martial arts
he taught me how to block, but that and a hammerfist is pretty much all i know currently. there's some dojos in the southern part of my state which would come in handy -
also we don't have a parkour training gym in my area, but i know the beginning techniques of parkour are easy to learn without the equipment parkour gyms have cud usually at first it focuses on strength and movement training, which you can practice with a waist-level rail or wall, monkey bars (for hanging), etc
-
as im getting started, i think i got strength training's nail in the coffin already. i do a lot of exercises for strength training each day, and ive been keeping it up for about a year now
but i dont want to under-value the new exercises, cud like anything else, when you first start a new exercise it is difficult -
pushups are my main strength. when i first started doing exercises tho, i got way too ahead of myself and ended up doing like. 50 pushups in one session three times during the day. and then i got nauseous, threw up, tore some muscles in my arms, and for a week or two my arms were so sore i couldn't even do a pushup lol so its better to listen to your body when doing new trainings instead if getting burnt out and suffering the consequences
-
i hate having scoliosis, i could do so much more without it
-
also wing chun was recommended to me but idk what that is
-
it sounds like a barbecued chicken wing. ngl

ive been doing it wrong all along xd apparently you're not supposed to tuck your thumb into your fist when punching otherwise you could break it. you're supposed to tuck it UNDER your fist for safest blows
and i always knew that extending your arm all the way wasn't natural when punching because you could strain some ligaments. you're always supposed to have your arm slightly bent so you never hurt yourself -
aaaaa i ate a piece of toast yesterday, that was it, and now im paying my debts 😠i woke up with literally 0 energy but did my normal workout anyway and felt awful, my entire body was sore and my head felt like drills. so i ate a piece of toast to get some quick energy burned down, and when that didn't work, i made a bowl of oatmeal for some more quick energy cud its whole grain
when THAT didn't work, i had to make a smoothie for protein and had half a cup of it
then when that didn't work i just had some salsa for more protein
and that didn't work. so i just got a piece of watermelon cud i was running out of ideas
and my energy was starting to regain but i still felt really tired, so i got some parmesan cud it has high quality protein in it
so much food and i still don't have a lot of energy :( i regret not eating a lot yesterday xd im not going to eat anymore cud this food's protein will probs set in in a few hours
i might need to cancel my later workout + run cud i went off my eating schedule, but hopefully ill have at least enough energy to focus on getting caught up in school -
my arms look healthy tho. i can see some muscle without flexing which is a huge step in the right direction since ive been focusing on arms, legs, + core
-
music is overrated sometimes. let's just stand back and think for a moment rather than be consuming round the clock
i get that it's catchy, or "it gets you" with some relatable lyrics, or you think it helps with certain tasks, but i fully believe it genuinely does not help. keep music away from yourself unless you get free time so you can focus on the tasks at hand. even then be mindful of how you spend that time -
also yesterday i went on a two mile hike with my family and lol i think my back has officially been crippled to a pulp
i feel fine. i'm energized, i'm great, but gosh darn if this spine doesn't stop being a delay im gonna take it out and use a stick as a replacement -
it was fun tho, we found some cool bugs and my brother and i pretended it was the start of a technological apocalypse
-
and we needed to get to water before the cyber-disease spread xddd
-
im taking today off because i got some minor tears in my muscles again. it's really not as bad as it sounds, just some strain in the arms, but it gives me more time to focus on my legs and core again
i think i got leg training down the nail because of yesterday, so it's given me a lot of time to focus on core-building
