I would love to create lofi beats with cool sound effects in a song
For example, one song I wanna make soon is one with the sound of a wood wick candle burning in the background as a sound effect
Also water swishing in a water bottle.
I have a microphone set up that could easily capture these sounds but it's the translating them into music that's the hard part for me rn
I think of DAWs as just a way to translate music into a software tbh but like you said Alex it can be difficult depending on the DAW I suppose
It's my first time ever using any DAW so I'm actually pretty comfortable with FL Studio now but not music. So back to music theory I go xD -
Hi

Hi RavagerThe44th
Are you Zero by any chance or someone I haven't met yet? -
(He most certain is not Zero, but I am.)
-
Hah.
-
Oh okay, nice to meet you!
Hi Zero xD -
Hey.
-
How are you doing today?
Here it's really hot out for once so I've been taking walks -
Anything but okay. Healthcare is seriously f---ing me over, today... Can't get anything treated, mental or physical...
Walks are nice. I usually don't walk until fall. I'm allergic to the sun, pretty much. It makes me have eczema flare-ups, and I overheat easily. -
Oh, Yeah I suppose in that case I am XD
I suppose the best way to handle that is to define how much you want to follow what music theory would suggest to be best. I don't personally know much music theory but from what I know, anything you could do has some way of describing it, it's just that from a structure like that some ideas may not seem "ideal" even if it's what you want to do.
Yeah, that's more or less what I've heard. It's got quite a learning curve and people mostly just look at YouTube tutorials on how to do things they're not already familiar with. From what I remember there is a history to why it's so difficult, I'll see if I can find the video on it later for you if you want.
In what way are they throwing it off?
Yeah, that kind of thing can both be difficult per your DAW, and also how you conceptualize music. Music theory will tell you one way of conceptualizing, you can also take things from a sound design route, which is how I personally do things. When you do things that way, that kind of thing becomes very easy, but makes the things that music theory is helpful for somewhat harder. Which is why I said I kind of do composing. By necessity some of that kind of thing is involved with how I make music but it's not really what I do, y'know?
Also sorry about text wall lol -
Zero,
I'm sorry about that. I went through a hospital experience recently and I hate them/am kind of terrified of them now. I hope you can get the treatment you need. Healthcare is so difficult sometimes in USA. Are you from USA?
Also, I struggle with eczema too. I get what you mean. I love spring or fall weather. When it's too hot it's not as enjoyable. -
Alex, yeah! Exactly, some of the things I want to do musically aren't considered ideal according to music theory which is why I like it as a guideline, not a rule. Cuz music is like another language to me and the sounds I want to create sometimes might not follow all of music theory
I would love that actually. I think what I need most is to find someone here in real life where I live who knows music and DAWs to give me lessons and tutorials, especially if I can find anyone familiar with FL Studio. Something about in person teaching is so much more helpful than trying to learn on my own.
I remember taking guitar lessons in college and my professor then made guitar sooo easy because he was very step by step
Oh no problem I love text walls tbh xD
That's awesome!! You think of it similar to how I think of it. Sound design, huh? I'll have to research music in that way too then. Music theory is okay but I definitely feel most free when I can just piece everything together exactly the way I want it. Sometimes I feel like music theory is like a cheat sheet/tool scape and other times it feels like a jail/prison cell xD -
I did a couple more gesture sketches for practice today.
My art kind of sucks right now but I have hope I'll get better every day if I just keep on course with this one video I found on Youtube
it's really helpful and exactly what i was wanting. Then it showed up in my feed on YT I'm so happy lol.
I do well with organization and lesson plans. -
There's this sense of feeling rushed when I'm constructing a human body lately when I do art but I think it's partly because I need glasses.
I am having a hard time even seeing big details from far way (like hands and feet positions) so I absolutely have to get my glasses fixed asap -
The medication I'm on that I'm wanting to get off of completely soon (appointment is set, just have to get doctor approved for weaning off of it properly so as not to get any weird withdrawal effects).
It has weird side effects on me like it affects my vision a little bit makes my eyes 100x more sensitive to light from what I can tell. I've never experienced this type of light sensitivity in my eyes ever before and one of the side effects of the medication says vision problems so I know it's partly the meds affecting me.
I knew it wasn't a good fit for me when they put me on it but eh. What can u do. Doctors will be doctors i guess
