You know how they should do all band and choir auditions in school?
Completely blindly. I just got back from a discord with a lot of ex band kids talking about how much favoritism and elitism they experienced in band and I think the only way to combat that would be to have auditions done to where the director cannot see and doesn't know who he's listening to so he can only judge them off of merit and not based off of how much he likes them. -
The girl at my old school who got all of the solos and first chair always was so buddy buddy with the director that the director would HANG OUT with her after school..
Like he would go to her house for dinner and he even officiated their wedding.
Idk man like where is the line to where that behaviour is just not okay anymore. Why was it okay for a 45 year old man to go hang out with a 16 year old outside of school hours -
